Warning about recruitment scams.

"Easy job, high pay," "Income of 18-25 million VND/month, start work immediately"... these attractive advertisements are being exploited by many scammers on social media. They impersonate verified fan pages of large companies and corporations to gain the trust of job seekers. Many people have lost money and personal information as a result.

Ms. PTTH (born in 1992, an office worker residing in Duc Xuan ward, Thai Nguyen province) recounted that while searching for new job opportunities, she came across a verified fanpage claiming to be from a large telecommunications corporation, posting a job advertisement with an attractive salary. The information was very professional and complete, including job position, salary, and work location.

After filling out the application form, about an hour later, she received a call to confirm her email address and invited her to an online interview. Everything was exactly like a typical recruitment process.

However, irregularities quickly became apparent. After receiving an email notifying her of the recruitment schedule and instructions to install the "Signal" app, Ms. H. followed the instructions and was added to a group called "GROUP 13: MOBIFONE PRELIMINARY SELECTION". Ms. H., along with several other accounts, was asked to take an online test with 15 multiple-choice questions revolving around information she needed to know about the company she was applying to.

In this group chat, members greet and encourage each other, some accounts enthusiastically claiming to have "received the money," constantly messaging to persuade new app installers to complete the procedure. Messages like "Have you installed it yet?", "Do you need any support?" appear regularly.

Suspicious, she stopped, didn't complete the registration, and observed. She downloaded screenshots posted by someone who had already registered to the group; from those images and small details in the website's interface, she concluded she was facing a scam. When Ms. H. didn't register or respond to messages, the chat group suddenly went silent, and the accounts that had boasted about receiving money were no longer active. This is a common sign when a scam group fails to recruit more victims or wants to shift its operations.

Ms. H. added: "At that time, I suspected it was a scam. A large company couldn't possibly recruit so quickly, and certainly wouldn't ask candidates to download a strange app or engage in private conversations like that. Upon closer examination of the recruitment notification email, I noticed they had a '.com' domain (a type of privately created personal email address), instead of '.vn' like legitimate businesses and organizations."

The scam typically follows these steps: Posting job advertisements promising "easy work, high pay" on fake fan pages, even those with verified badges; Asking applicants to fill out application forms and then calling to confirm, speaking in a very professional manner; Inviting applicants to download unfamiliar apps or join chat groups to take tests, then leading them in a completely unrelated direction to the job the recruiter initially applied for.

Within the group, the accomplices would "act" like other candidates, constantly boasting about good results such as receiving tens of millions of dong in remuneration to build trust with the aim of getting victims to provide personal information, deposit money, or register accounts on the fake app.

These scams share common characteristics: rapid recruitment, promises of unusually high salaries, the use of unofficial email addresses/websites, and prompting users to install unfamiliar applications.

To avoid falling into scams, job seekers should note the following: Carefully check emails and websites: Large companies often use ".vn" domain names. If in doubt, call the official hotline directly to verify. Be wary of unusually high salaries. Legitimate recruitment processes are lengthy; there's no such thing as getting hired immediately with a salary of tens of millions of VND after submitting an application. Absolutely do not download unfamiliar applications, and do not provide OTPs, passwords, or account numbers to strangers. Keep evidence (messages, emails, links) and report any signs of fraud to the police.
