According to Gulfnews, Google has confirmed that more than 1 billion Android devices worldwide are at risk of being hacked. The reason is that devices running Android 12 or earlier no longer receive security patches.
Only 57.9% of devices currently run Android 13 or higher, while the latest Android 16 only accounts for 7.5%. Phone models released in 2021 or earlier are the most severely affected.
Even a new mid-range Android phone is more secure than an abandoned older flagship. Google Play Protect only scans for malware; it cannot replace critical system patches. Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S21 series has stopped receiving updates, leaving users vulnerable to attacks.
Google recommends checking your Android version; if it's below 13 and cannot be upgraded, you should consider changing your device. Readers are invited to watch the following video : Numerous scams using AI technology are flourishing | News Bulletin 141
