In 2019, after graduating from the Intermediate Level Chemical Warfare Officer School with a specialization in chemical analysis, Minh Duc was assigned by his superiors to work at the Chemical Warfare Company, 330th Division (Military Region 9); in November 2021, he was transferred to the Chemical Warfare Battalion, General Staff of Military Region 9. Using the knowledge he acquired, combined with practical experience, the young man born in 1997 continuously honed his professional skills, especially in the procedures and techniques for analyzing and investigating toxic substances.

With a strong physical foundation and specialized technical skills, in July 2022, Minh Duc was selected by his superiors and became the youngest member among the 12 athletes of the 9th Military Region Team participating in the 2022 All-Army Chemical Defense Competition. Minh Duc competed in four events: AK rifle shooting (exercise 1) while wearing a gas mask; protective equipment; a quiz on the traditions of the chemical corps; and a practical competition in toxic substance analysis.

Thanks to the efforts of its members, the 9th Military Region Team won third place overall at the 2022 All-Army Chemical Warfare Competition. Lieutenant Tran Dang Minh Duc, in particular, won second place in the practical section on toxic substance analysis and third place in the section on understanding the traditions of the Chemical Corps. Also in 2022, Lieutenant Tran Dang Minh Duc was a standout athlete of the 9th Military Region Team participating in the "We - Soldiers" program, Military Region No. 1 version, contributing to the 9th Military Region Team reaching the semi-finals.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quang Nam, Battalion Commander of the Chemical Defense Battalion, 9th Military Region Staff, said: “The work of a chemical analysis technician requires meticulousness, speed, and almost absolute accuracy. Comrade Duc always grasps and fulfills his responsibilities and duties well. In addition, he operates the chemical and radiation monitoring station effectively, ensuring training and combat readiness.”
