From around 5 PM ( Hanoi time), some users reported experiencing problems with OpenAI's chatbot. Customers in the UK reported the issue first, and it then spread to other parts of Europe.
This company's status page reflects a similar situation. Processing speeds have slowed down, and there are bottlenecks in ChatGPT and the Sora video creator. "Error rates have increased," the start-up stated.

At the same time, DownDetector reported a sharp increase in error reports for the aforementioned AI service. At its peak, there were over 1,000 incident reports worldwide . Customers were either not receiving a response from the chatbot or it was responding very slowly in the past few hours.
According to an editor at Tech Radar, the issue is not uniform for all users. Paid customers can use the service normally. Conversely, the majority of customers experiencing problems are non-paying users. In some cases, the software displays the message "Chat not found".

The situation gradually improved from 6 PM onwards; although the servers were still overloaded, the number of successful processing attempts increased.
This could be a connection or server-related issue. The problem occurs across the entire ChatGPT language model, regardless of version 4.5 or 40. Similarly, Sora is almost completely unresponsive to video processing commands.
This isn't the first time OpenAI's popular tool has experienced a widespread outage. The number of users is increasing rapidly, meaning each time it malfunctions, the impact is even more severe. This latest problem occurred during the afternoon working hours for European users.
According to the latest report, ChatGPT currently has up to 400 million monthly active users. This also puts significant pressure on the server system, which has to handle a larger volume of requests. In addition, image and video creation services also consume resources.
The largest error ever recorded by OpenAI occurred in June 2024, lasting for three days.
