With over three months until Tet (Lunar New Year), the airline ticket market has started to show signs of activity since the end of October. Airlines have launched numerous promotional ticket programs to stimulate demand, and customers have begun researching and booking tickets for the Tet holiday.
As of early November, representatives from Vietravel Airlines reported that the routes with the highest bookings during the Lunar New Year period were Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City - Quy Nhon. This data shows that domestic travelers have already prepared for their trips at the beginning of the year.
In particular, the occupancy rate on flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi has reached over 75% for the period leading up to Tet. Flights to Da Nang also have high booking rates, showing that this central coastal city continues to be a favorite spring holiday destination for many tourists.
Ms. Thuy Dung, residing in Hoang Mai district (Hanoi), said: “This year, the New Year's Day holiday falls close to the weekend, but I still have a lot of work to do, so I'm saving the trip for the Lunar New Year. I plan to take the whole family to the beach for a change of scenery.” Ms. Dung is considering Vung Tau and Quy Nhon for her Lunar New Year trip. “I want to book the tour in advance to secure a good price, so I don't have to worry about rushing preparations closer to the holiday,” Ms. Dung said.
Preparing for Tet holiday tours, welcoming inbound tourists.
Assessing the upcoming New Year and Lunar New Year travel seasons, Mr. Nguyen Cong Hoan - CEO of Flamingo Redtours - believes that Vietnamese tourists will still have a great demand for travel during the two long holidays at the beginning of 2024.
“We proactively develop many products for different types of tourists. For example, we offer longer vacation packages suitable for international tourists visiting Vietnam for 7 days, while tourists from Central and Southern Vietnam often choose itineraries of 3 to 5 days. Shorter programs cater to local tourists,” said Mr. Nguyen Cong Hoan.
A representative of this business predicted that products lasting 3 to 5 days would be popular, as they offer a complete vacation program and are cost-effective for family groups.
In addition, some sources point out that popular domestic tourist destinations such as Vung Tau, Da Lat, Phan Thiet, and Phu Quy Island may become overloaded when large numbers of tourists flock to them during holidays.
This situation occurred in several localities during the 2023 Lunar New Year holiday, or the April 30th - May 1st holiday. Therefore, localities need to prepare thoroughly in anticipating situations, managing destinations, ensuring service quality, and maintaining security and safety for tourists.
The period leading up to the Lunar New Year holiday is the peak season for the inbound tourism market. Travel agencies also launch many promotional products and actively communicate and advertise to target markets.
Mr. Pham Duy Nghia, CEO of Vietfoot Travel, said that the company is also offering tourism products for foreign visitors coming to Vietnam to celebrate Christmas and New Year.
“Our international product lines for the European, American, Australian, and South African markets are being implemented effectively. We have already served about 50% of our target customers. From now until the end of the year, the company will further strengthen its marketing and promotion efforts to attract even more customers,” Mr. Nghia said.
In addition, many hotels and resorts in localities such as Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Phu Quoc, etc., are also proactively offering various promotions and designing new programs and experiences to attract foreign tourists for vacation.
In the first 10 months of the year, Vietnam welcomed nearly 10 million international visitors, with leading markets including South Korea, China, the United States, Taiwan (China), and Japan…
