According to booking systems, flights from Chu Lai, Vinh, Con Dao, Dong Hoi, Hai Phong, Nha Trang, etc., to Ho Chi Minh City are almost fully booked until the 10th day of Tet (Lunar New Year). Some flights still have tickets available, but mostly in business class, with common prices ranging from 4-6 million VND. If you are willing to fly with a connecting flight via Hanoi or other transit points, the cost could reach 9-10 million VND per one-way trip.
According to ticket agents, although airlines have increased flights compared to previous years, travel demand this year is rising faster. Besides the recovery of people returning home for the holidays and traveling during the Lunar New Year, the number of international visitors to Vietnam during Tet has also increased, causing many flights to quickly become overloaded.
During the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday, airlines simultaneously increased capacity to meet demand. Vietnam Airlines and its group provided over 3.5 million seats, boosting night flights. Bamboo Airways increased its fleet and added more domestic seats, while Vietravel Airlines launched additional flights combined with tours. However, the 9-day holiday and the recovery in demand meant that supply still could not fully meet market demand.
The sharp increase in demand for air travel in recent years is also linked to the trend of improving incomes.
