The "News" campaign, held from September to November 2023, included the following main activities: an Anti-Fake News content creation contest on the TikTok platform, a campaign summary program, and a series of media articles spreading the program's message, with the goal of providing basic information and skills for Internet users to recognize, detect, and prevent fake news and harmful information online.
The Internet program – Raising Internet User Awareness in Vietnam – is part of the "News" campaign organized at the Academy of Journalism and Communication.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Le Quang Tu Do - Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information ( Ministry of Information and Communications ) shared that this was the first time the Department had organized an activity focusing on the hot topic of fake news on the internet.
"When we started the campaign, we were very nervous because we didn't know how the online community would react. Fortunately, right after the campaign began, it received a very positive response from the online community, hot TikTokers, famous content creators, and media outlets," said Mr. Le Quang Tu Do.
Mr. Le Quang Tu Do, Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, delivered a speech at the program.
According to Mr. Le Quang Tu Do, after nearly a month of launching the communication campaign, the Anti Fake News content creation contest within the framework of the campaign has attracted more than 50 entries and garnered over 130 million views.
Besides the contest entries , over 100 videos also participated in reporting on the program, accumulating nearly 280 million views. Notably, the Anti-Fake News message was embraced by many content creators through the use of hashtags in their posts. By November 20th, nearly 1.5 million videos had been tagged with the Anti-Fake News hashtag on TikTok, reaching over 5 billion views.
The awards ceremony for the "Anti Fake News" contest honored and rewarded outstanding videos.
"When organizing the 'News' Campaign, the most important goal is to raise community awareness about combating fake news on the internet. And the most important meaning is that more and more young people will have the skills to combat fake news to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their communities – cleaning up the online space," Mr. Le Quang Tu Do emphasized.
Also within the framework of the Internet Program - Raising Internet User Awareness in Vietnam, the Award Ceremony for the "Anti Fake News" Contest took place, including 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 1 Third Prize, and other supplementary prizes with a total prize value of up to 150,000,000 VND, including cash and gifts from the Organizing Committee.
