The practical test, "Three Explosions," included: shooting at hidden and visible targets in daylight with an AK submachine gun; throwing grenades accurately over a distance; and techniques for packaging and detonating explosives. Before the test, many new recruits were determined to score high marks right from the first test.
Early in the morning, the live-fire training ground of the Military School of Military Region 3 was bustling with a competitive atmosphere as teams and individuals vied for the "Excellent Shooter" award. This inspection aimed to realistically assess the level, organizational ability, and training methods of officers; the ability to use various weapons and technical equipment in the inventory; and the postures and movements of new recruits. Therefore, from the officers and unit commanders to each soldier, everyone showed high determination and competed to perform well in the inspection.
Preparing to go to the firing range, new recruit Vu Tien Anh, from Platoon 7 (Company 5, Battalion 3), and his comrades still took the opportunity to exchange and share experiences taught by their unit commanders during training, such as: staying calm, breathing evenly, holding the rifle firmly, or mitigating the effects of the weather.
Thanks to their solid understanding of theory, mastery of the techniques, and correct execution of the movements, 5 out of 8 soldiers achieved excellent results in the very first round of shooting. “I am very happy to have achieved such high results and received the ‘Excellent Shooter’ award. To achieve this result, in addition to psychological factors and confidence when entering the shooting line, I always followed the correct steps during shooting practice, especially the movements of holding the gun, holding my breath, and gradually increasing the trigger pull,” shared new recruit Le Hoang, Platoon 6, Company 4A, Battalion 3.
According to Colonel Trinh Van Ngo, Principal of the Military School of Military Region 3, to effectively serve the "three explosions" test for new recruits, the Party Committee and the School's Board of Directors have led and directed agencies and units to prepare training grounds and practice areas, ensuring adequate facilities, weapons, and equipment; focusing on training to improve practical skills and movements; strengthening political and ideological education; and building the determination and resolve to achieve the highest possible results with absolute safety.
“Shooting with the AK submachine gun is a difficult skill, and new recruits encountering it for the first time are often unfamiliar with it. Therefore, right from the beginning of 2023, before receiving new recruits, the Party Committee and the School's Board of Directors directed agencies and units to do a good job of training and developing the staff, especially officers at the squad, platoon, and company levels, on methods of managing, organizing training, and maintaining practice; and the training process. The school requires training officers at all levels to meticulously and closely monitor each soldier; to implement the principle of “correcting mistakes wherever they occur,” and to resolutely overcome the reluctance to learn, train, and practice superficially. Along with that, officers at all levels must regularly pay attention to, be close to, and understand the thoughts and feelings of new recruits, and promptly resolve any difficulties they may encounter,” Colonel Trinh Van Ngo added.
No longer feeling awkward like in the beginning, after a period of training at the Military School of Military Region 3, the new recruits are all strong, confident, and composed; they have a firm grasp and mastery of techniques and movements. This is an important step in the maturity of the new recruits, creating a foundation for them to successfully complete their tasks in the future.
