The film "Red Rain," directed by Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen, is considered a significant milestone in modern Vietnamese cinema, exploring the theme of revolutionary war with a fresh and emotionally rich cinematic language. The film recreates the 81 days and nights of fierce fighting to defend the Quang Tri Citadel in 1972, one of the most intense battles in the resistance war against the US.

Beyond simply depicting the tragic aspects of history, "Red Rain" also evokes profound emotions about patriotism, sacrifice, and the yearning for peace . The image of the young soldier amidst the smoke and fire of Quang Tri, both resilient and humane, brought millions of viewers to tears when the film was released.

Released to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, the film set a record for the highest box office revenue in Vietnamese cinematic history, becoming a rare phenomenon in the war film genre.

Reportedly, along with "Red Rain," the film week celebrating the 24th Vietnam Film Festival also features 18 representative Vietnamese films from various periods, such as "Peach, Pho and Piano," "The Scent of Burning Grass," "The Returnee," "The Legend of Quan Tien," "The 17th Parallel Day and Night," "Hanoi 12 Days and Nights," "I See Yellow Flowers on Green Grass," "The Nightingale," "August Star," etc.

This event is not only a cultural and artistic activity with profound significance, but also a tribute to the generations of ancestors who sacrificed for national independence. Through this, cinema becomes a bridge between the past and the present, helping viewers - especially the younger generation - to better understand history and the value of peace and freedom today.
