This year's floodwaters are higher than in previous years, generously providing fishermen in the Mekong Delta with a large quantity of seafood, thus enabling them to earn income during the agricultural off-season. During the flood season, from the border regions to the remote inland areas, one can see people fishing in the flooded fields. Each place has its own fishing methods, but the good news is that fish, shrimp, crabs, and other seafood are abundant. On average, people earn between 400,000 and 500,000 VND per day from fishing in the flooded fields, enough to support their families and pay for their children's education.

As the floodwaters recede, young people help their families catch small fish to sell to traders, earning an extra income of 100,000 - 150,000 VND per day. Currently, small fish, about the size of a thumb, are being bought by traders to make fish sauce for sale during Tet (Lunar New Year).

With the northerly winds blowing and the year ending in just over a month, people are busy cutting fish heads to make dried fish and fish sauce for the wholesalers. This provides them with work throughout the flood season, earning between 200,000 and 250,000 VND per day.

The night was thick with activity, and the buying and selling of fish was bustling. Fresh fish and shrimp were being distributed everywhere by small traders.

Fishermen are catching shrimp in the flooded fields. Shrimp are abundant during the northeast monsoon season. Currently, freshwater shrimp are considered a delicacy of the flood season, priced from 150,000 to 200,000 VND per kilogram.

Every year, the floods bring abundant aquatic products, providing the people with a decent source of income.
