On January 17th, Hanoi City held a ceremony to commend and reward Hanoi players who achieved outstanding results at the 2024 AFF Cup, honoring the efforts and contributions of Hanoi FC and Hanoi Police FC players to the emotional and proud journey of Vietnamese football. Attending the ceremony was Mr. Tran Sy Thanh, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee.
Players from clubs based in Hanoi received their awards on the morning of January 17th.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh expressed his delight and emotion at having the opportunity to meet outstanding representatives of the sports sector, especially the players who are the reigning ASEAN Cup champions. "This joy is further amplified by the atmosphere of our entire nation and country enthusiastically and excitedly responding to the call of General Secretary To Lam to resolutely strive and transform to prepare for a new era – the era of national progress," the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee stated.
Sharing his condolences regarding the injuries of several players, Mr. Tran Sy Thanh extended his best wishes and hoped striker Xuan Son would recover quickly. He also wished the national team in general, as well as the Hanoi football clubs in particular, much success and new heights in domestic and international competitions. He also sent his regards to coach Kim Sang-sik, who was unable to attend the awards ceremony.
Outstanding contributions
At the 2024 AFF Cup, the Vietnamese national team will consist of 26 members, including 10 players from clubs based in Hanoi.
- Hanoi FC: Do Duy Manh, Nguyen Thanh Chung, Nguyen Hai Long, Pham Xuan Manh, Pham Tuan Hai.
- Hanoi Police Club: Nguyen Quang Hai, Vu Van Thanh, Filip Nguyen, Le Pham Thanh Long, Bui Hoang Viet Anh.
The players are under contract with Hanoi FC.
The players are under contract with CAHN Club.
The brilliance of these players, especially in the second leg of the final at Rajamangala Stadium (Bangkok), played a crucial role in Vietnam's three goals against Thailand, helping them win the championship.
A well-deserved reward
The Hanoi People's Committee decided to award 50 million VND to each Hanoi player and a bonus of 2 billion VND to the entire team.
In particular, T&T Group andSHB Bank – founded by Mr. Do Quang Hien – announced a total bonus of 4.4 billion VND for 10 players from the two clubs, specifically:
500 million VND per person for the following individuals: Do Duy Manh, Nguyen Thanh Chung, Nguyen Hai Long, Pham Xuan Manh, Pham Tuan Hai (Hanoi FC), Nguyen Quang Hai, Vu Van Thanh (Hanoi Police FC). 300 million VND per person for: Filip Nguyen, Le Pham Thanh Long, Bui Hoang Viet Anh.
Earlier, immediately after the victory, SHB Bank awarded 2 billion VND to the entire Vietnamese national team at a ceremony honoring them at the VFF, bringing the total amount of rewards from Chairman Hien to 6.4 billion VND.
Chairman Hien gave a speech at the ceremony.
In addition, SHB also organized a charter flight to bring 600 fans and family members of the players to Bangkok, providing strong moral support for the team in the decisive final match.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Do Quang Hien emphasized: "Your success is not only a source of personal pride, but also the pride of the entire city of Hanoi. You have proven that with unity, determination, and relentless effort, we can achieve great things. You have brought glory to the colors of Hanoi football and contributed to the achievements of Vietnamese football in regional competitions."
Hanoi FC – founded in 2006 – has become the most successful football club in Vietnam with 6 V-League championships, 3 National Cups, and 5 National Super Cups. However, for Chairman Hien, success is not just about titles but also about sustainable development through a professional youth training system.

Duy Mạnh (holding the microphone) is the captain of the Vietnam national team at the AFF Cup 2024.
The capital city's team has also consistently made its mark on the international stage, most notably reaching the quarter-finals of the 2014 AFC Cup, winning the Southeast Asian regional championship, and reaching the inter-regional final of the 2019 AFC Cup. Recently, in the group stage of the 2023-2024 AFC Champions League, Hanoi FC caused a sensation with victories against strong opponents such as Urawa Reds (Japan) and Wuhan Three Towns (China).
