Businesses are also strengthening their testing and traceability capabilities, and applying international quality management standards to ensure that products reaching consumers meet safety and quality requirements.
Mr. Le Minh Tuan, General Director of Vissan, stated that the company is one of the pioneering enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City to implement the TE-FOOD electronic traceability system for pork products, gradually applying it to other suitable product groups. Through the QR code on the product, consumers can check essential information throughout the product's distribution journey. This forms the foundation for the company to pursue its green, clean, traceable, and sustainable production strategy, building consumer trust.

Together with Vissan, the modern retail system of Saigon Trading Corporation - Limited Liability Company (Satra) is promoting the standardization of its supply chain towards transparency and synchronized control from raw materials to consumption points. Satra is implementing traceability using QR codes for most fresh food items. Each batch of goods has standardized documentation, including test results, temperature, identification code, etc., helping to improve quality control throughout the chain. To ensure efficiency, Satra is also implementing modern management solutions that allow for real-time tracking of goods, control of storage conditions, and shorten circulation time.
Meanwhile, at the retail system of the Ho Chi Minh City Commercial Cooperative Union ( Saigon Co.op ), Mr. Duong Minh Quang, Deputy General Director of Saigon Co.op, emphasized: “Saigon Co.op always ensures that every product reaching consumers is safe, transparent, and consistent in quality through a comprehensive control system throughout the entire supply chain, from production to point of sale. The entire system has applied a rigorous supplier assessment process, prioritizing units that meet standards such as VietGAP, GlobalGAP... Annually, Saigon Co.op conducts approximately 26,000 internal samples and more than 2,800 samples at independent units to ensure product quality.”
Currently, at its retail outlets, Saigon Co.op employs a dedicated quality control team combined with rapid testing equipment to monitor storage conditions, display, and food safety right from the goods reception stage. The entire system is implementing key activities including training, updating legal regulations for the system and suppliers, strengthening inspections, and providing guidance on implementing food safety conditions at sales points... aiming to standardize processes and enhance the capacity to control the food supply chain.
Faced with increasingly stringent food safety requirements, retailers in Ho Chi Minh City are determined to proactively raise the standards of their food and goods sources. This demonstrates that supply chain control, traceability, and transparency are becoming crucial factors for the competitiveness of modern retailers, contributing to strengthening consumer trust and promoting sustainable consumption.
