In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam stated: “The digital transformation of media is not merely a matter of survival, but essential for the industry's vitality. Media outlets must not forget their noble mission – to provide accurate truth and meaningful analysis, protecting the public from being deceived by fake news and misinformation.” This is the first time ASEAN member countries have come together to share and discuss the topic of Digital Transformation in Media. The workshop aims to create an open exchange platform to share the situation, policy planning processes, and best practices for digital transformation in media. This will serve as a foundation for further discussions, proposals for initiatives, and cooperation priorities in the future. Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam said: “In this new era, the role and mission of media goes beyond simply disseminating information. It is about harnessing information as a driving force for development, transforming information into knowledge and thereby adding value to society; and at the same time building a resilient and proactive ASEAN that adapts effectively. Our actions and adaptability will shape the coming years, affecting not only the media landscape but also the development of nations and the livelihoods of their people.” The workshop consisted of two main sessions and one open discussion session on measures for ASEAN countries to jointly promote the audiovisual industry in the digital age. Therefore, digital transformation has become an inevitable trend. In this context, it is essential for ASEAN countries to share experiences and insights on strategies and best practices in promoting and guiding domestic media organizations towards sustainable digital transformation. Digital transformation in media is an inevitable trend, aiming to enhance the media's communication capacity in attracting viewers from social media platforms, protecting traditional values, and modernizing journalism and media. Digital transformation in media essentially involves applying increasingly advanced technologies to journalistic activities, enriching the digital media ecosystem with new and superior features, and improving the quality and effectiveness of communication to information consumers.
