CAHN CLUB 'S CHARACTERISTICS
The match against Macarthur (October 23 evening) is a big challenge for CAHN Club in their first step into the big sea of AFC Champions League 2. However, with the challenges they have overcome in the ASEAN Club Championship last season and 2 matches in the Asian tournament this season, coach Alexandre Polking and his team are no longer afraid of any international opponents.
Against a strong and tough opponent like Macarthur, CAHN Club showed their clear playing style. Taking the initiative to control the ball with high-speed passing and passing, ready to play an open game, CAHN Club was the team that created more chances in the first half.
Coach Polking also carefully studied Macarthur's weakness, which is that despite possessing ideal physique, the away team's players tend to move slowly and hold the ball for a long time.

This weakness was thoroughly exploited by CAHN FC in the 30th minute, when central defender Adou Minh suddenly rushed forward to close in, stealing the ball from his opponent, opening up an opportunity for Van Do to run down and shoot diagonally to open the score. Only 4 seconds passed from the time Adou Minh stole the ball until the Macarthur net shook, showing the daring and lightning-fast style of play of CAHN FC.
CAHN Club could have scored another goal if they had taken full advantage of their opportunities, such as Vitao's failed shot from a narrow angle, or Dinh Bac's cross-field pass, both of which came from impressive left-wing passes from the home team.
Fierce War
In the international arena last season, CAHN Club paid the price many times for conceding goals in the last 20 minutes of the match. Coach Polking’s players often lost their physical strength and concentration at the decisive moment. Macarthur took full advantage of this weakness when they started to put pressure in the second half, with powerful high balls.
Then the net of goalkeeper Thanh Vinh (who was sent in to replace Nguyen Filip) shook after a powerful header by Tomislav Uskok. The 1.96 m tall center back jumped higher than everyone else and headed the ball into the net, leaving the entire CAHN club defense helpless.
In the final minutes, CAHN Club put on suffocating pressure, especially on the left wing when Van Duc continuously dribbled from the wing and then turned into the middle to find a chance to shoot. However, Coach Polking's students continued to waste opportunities, with shots that were not difficult enough to overcome Macarthur's multi-layered defense. With a 1-1 draw, CAHN Club still held the top spot with 5 points, but only 1 point more than the 2 teams below.
Overall, playing like CAHN FC after the first 3 matches of AFC Champions League 2 is commendable. Because although not having a team of all foreign players, the army that harmoniously combines domestic players, overseas Vietnamese players and foreign players of Coach Polking still operates in a systematic and smooth manner. However, to go far in the Asian tournament, CAHN FC cannot just play well for 70 minutes. Concentration until the last second needs to be built and maintained, instead of repeating the mistakes that gave Mr. Polking a headache last season.
Coach Polking affirmed that CAHN Club will compete in all 4 arenas with the same tactics and spirit, not missing any playground. However, the dense match schedule (especially in the second half of the season) requires this Club to have a deep force if it wants to go far.
However, up to now, the quality of CAHN Club's reserves is a question mark. The continuous stumble in the second half shows that Coach Polking does not have enough reserve players to fill the gap for the main players, who have to struggle to play in many tournaments with a frequency of 1-2 matches per week.
CAHN Club will enter the return leg next month. To protect their ticket to the next round under the pressure of the 3 teams behind, Quang Hai and his teammates need to make more efforts. First of all, they need to train their physical foundation and adjust their concentration to be steady until the last seconds.
Next is the problem of wasting opportunities. Under coach Polking, CAHN has a color of controlled football and systematic, coherent attack, but finishing is still a problem. Except for the duo Leo Artur and Alan Grafite, the former V-League champion does not have a striker reliable enough to share the burden of scoring goals.
Only by knowing how to save, Mr. Polking and his team will no longer have to regret like in the recent draws.
