Ho Chi Minh City FC advanced from the group stage of the AFC Women's Champions League (AFC Women's Champions League) 2024-2025, finishing second in Group C. At this point, the eight teams that will compete in the quarter-finals of the AFC Women's Champions League 2024-2025 have been fully revealed.
The schedule for the quarter-final round of the top 8 women's clubs in Asia has also been set. The quarter-finals will be played over two days, March 22 and 23, 2025.
In her first tournament since returning to play for Ho Chi Minh City FC, Huynh Nhu (right) made a strong impression with 3 goals and 1 assist in 3 group stage matches.
Among the second-placed teams that advanced to the knockout round, Vietnam had the best record. According to the tournament regulations, the eight teams were divided into two groups: seeded and unseeded. The seeded group consisted of the three group winners and the best-performing second-placed team: Urawa Red Diamonds (Japan), Melbourne City (Australia), Incheon Red Angel (South Korea), and Ho Chi Minh City FC (the best-performing second-placed team). The unseeded group included Abu Dhabi Country FC (UAE), Bam Khatoon (Iran), Wuhan Jiangda (China), and Taichung Blue Whale (Taiwan).
The draw for the quarter-final pairings is as follows: seeded teams face unseeded teams; teams that were in the same group will not meet again in the quarter-finals.
In the group stage, Ho Chi Minh City FC was in the same group as Taichung Blue Whale FC. Therefore, Ho Chi Minh City FC's opponent in the quarterfinals will be one of three teams: Abu Dhabi Country FC (UAE), Bam Khatoon (Iran), or Wuhan Jiangda (China).
The quarter-finals will be played in a single-leg knockout format. Seeded teams will play at home. Therefore, although their opponent is yet to be determined, Ho Chi Minh City FC already has the advantage of playing at home in the quarter-finals of the 2024-2025 AFC Women's Champions League. Thong Nhat Stadium will be the stronghold for the Vietnamese representative to continue their journey and make their mark on the continental stage.
