"With a mother's care, a child is warm and well-fed."

On a summer afternoon, the road leading to the home of Vi Thi Uyen in Thanh Xuan neighborhood, Thuong Xuan commune, was filled with laughter and chatter, as her "godmothers," members of the Women's Association of the Provincial Police, came to visit, give gifts, and provide sponsorship of 6 million VND per year.

The Women's Association of the Provincial Police and the Women's Union of Thuong Xuan commune visited and provided financial support to Vi Thi Uyen, a resident of Thanh Xuan neighborhood.

The old, dilapidated stilt house where the grandmother and granddaughter live was renovated by her uncle and relatives to provide shelter from the sun and rain. Uyên's circumstances are truly tragic. She lost her father when she was just over a year old, and her mother left home many years ago with no news. Uyên and her older brother live with their grandmother; her brother is now grown up and works far from home, while Uyên is in 10th grade at Cầm Bá Thước High School.

Ms. Ha Thi Tuyen, Uyen's grandmother, shared: "Because she's my granddaughter, I love her even more. She's affectionate and understanding. I always tell her to study hard and be respectful. She absorbs everything I teach her. Sometimes, she even calls me 'Mom.' It's so touching to hear that!"

After surveying the orphaned child's circumstances, the Women's Union of Thuong Xuan commune contacted the Women's Union of the Provincial Police Department to provide support and sponsorship so that Uyen could continue her education. Initially, the Women's Union of the Provincial Police Department will sponsor Uyen until she turns 18, providing 500,000 VND per month; the funds will be disbursed once a year. In addition, the Women's Union of the Provincial Police Department also provides school supplies and gifts during holidays and festivals. If Uyen continues her studies at university, the Women's Union of the Provincial Police Department will allocate resources and continue to support her on her educational journey to establish herself and build a career.

Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Thi Chung, President of the Women's Association of the Provincial Police, shared: "From the very first moment we met, we were deeply moved by the difficult circumstances of orphaned children of various ages, including Uyen. Their innocent eyes and difficult situations further strengthened our resolve to support them and become a solid foundation for their well-being. To date, the Women's Association of the Provincial Police has sponsored nearly 100 orphaned children throughout the province, providing 500,000 VND per child per month, entirely funded by contributions from officers and soldiers within the unit."

For sisters Le Luc Phuong Linh and Le Nhat Minh, residing at Hac Oa 2 Street, Ham Rong Ward, their situation is particularly difficult and fortunate. They have been sponsored by Tang Phuc Pagoda since 2022, receiving 12 million VND per year. Linh and Nhat are motherless orphans, and their father is frequently ill and unemployed. For a poor family like theirs, this sponsorship is a "lifeline," helping the two sisters reach their dreams. It seemed unlikely they would ever go to school, or only one of them could, but for the past four years, Linh and Nhat have been able to attend school together like their peers. This year, Linh is in 11th grade, and her brother is in 9th grade. Their academic performance has consistently been good. This result warms the hearts of their "foster mother" and the organization, as it demonstrates the connection, the giving of love, and the spreading of a noble spirit of compassion.

Losing loved ones has left these children's lives uncertain. But the sharing and love, both material and spiritual, from their "godmothers" has helped these orphans become more confident and determined to study hard to live up to their mothers' expectations. Currently, many of these orphans are university students and award-winning students in academic competitions. Examples include Bui Thi Luong from Tho Lap commune; Nguyen Thi Tram Oanh from Ham Rong ward; Nguyen Thi Duyen and Nguyen Van Hai from Tho Xuan commune; Nguyen Ha My from Nong Cong commune; Vu Thanh Thuy from Tong Son commune; and Bui Thi Kim Yen from Thuong Ninh commune...

From connecting and sponsoring 30 orphaned children due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021, the Provincial Women's Union has directed a review and identified over 5,300 orphaned children in particularly difficult circumstances. Of these, more than 2,300 children have been connected and sponsored by the organization, with an annual support of approximately 6 billion VND; the support level ranges from 500,000 to 1 million VND per child, with some organizations sponsoring the children until they reach 18 years of age. Notable examples include Tien Nong Agricultural and Industrial Joint Stock Company, Dai Dung Group, Long Son Cement Company, the Women's Union of the Provincial Police, and the Provincial Association of Women Entrepreneurs...

Comrade Bui Thi Mai Hoan, Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union, shared: There have been cases of orphaned children being "godmothered" by companies and businesses, who have taken them in after graduating from university or vocational school; many children have strived to overcome difficulties, excelled in their studies, and been admitted to the Party while still in school... This is not only the result of their efforts, but also the fruit of human kindness and trust sown at the right time, helping the children grow and build a brighter future.
