At 6:30 p.m. today (June 18), the U19 women's team of Vietnam and Thailand will enter the final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship, taking place at Thong Nhat Stadium (HCMC).
This is the fourth consecutive time that the young Vietnamese girls have participated in the final match of the regional tournament. However, the championship trophy is still an unfinished dream, as the Vietnamese U19 women's team lost to Thailand in 2014 and 2023 and lost to Australia in 2022.
Vietnam U19 women's team is aiming for the Southeast Asian championship
This year's Vietnam U19 women's squad still has 3 faces who participated in the 2023 final, including goalkeeper Le Thi Thu, midfielder Le Thi Trang and striker, captain Luu Hoang Van. In particular, Hoang Van continues to show stable and sharp performance when leading the scoring list in the tournament with 5 goals.
This year's Southeast Asian U19 Women's Championship is considered an important stepping stone for young players to reach the continental playground. After the tournament, the outstanding faces of the Vietnam U19 Women's Team will be called up by Coach Masahiko to the Vietnam U20 Women's Team to prepare for the 2026 Asian U20 qualifiers, scheduled to take place in early August in Hanoi .
