"Defensive" pharmaceutical stocks shine.

After nearly an hour of trading in positive territory, the main indices fluctuated around the reference point, with liquidity decreasing due to cautious investor sentiment.

Most sectors that had been showing relatively positive growth saw their gains narrow by the end of this morning's trading session. The spotlight was on the pharmaceutical sector, with DHT hitting its ceiling price, VDP rising 6.6%, IMP increasing 3.7%; DBD, DCL, and DHG saw slight increases.

At the close of the morning trading session on July 15th, the VN-Index rose 3.53 points, or 0.28%, to 1,284.28 points. Across the entire exchange, there were 193 gainers and 193 losers.

In the afternoon session, increased selling pressure caused the market to reverse and decline. The pharmaceutical sector continued to be a bright spot.

At the close of trading on July 15th, the VN-Index fell 0.93 points, or 0.07%, to 1,279.82 points. Across the entire exchange, there were 167 gainers, 262 losers, and 86 stocks that remained unchanged.

The HNX-Index fell 0.18 points to 244.84 points. Across the entire exchange, there were 79 gainers, 86 losers, and 49 stocks unchanged. The UPCoM-Index fell 0.23 points to 97.92 points.

The trio of Vingroup stocks put pressure on the index, deducting more than 1.1 points from the market, with VHM leading the decline. Other real estate stocks also closed lower, including NVL, DIG, CEO, DXG, KBC, ITA, DXS, PDR, NTL, and IDJ. However, several stocks also gained points, such as TIG, IJC, HDG, KHG, TCH, EVG, TDC, IDC, and BCM.

Vietnam Airlines ' HVN shares also impacted the overall index, deducting nearly 0.5 points, closing down 2.47% at 33,600 VND per share. Meanwhile, its competitor VJC rose 2.16% to 104,200 VND per share, contributing 0.3 points to the index.

The banking sector saw mixed results, withSHB , HDB, MBB, MSB, CTG, LPB, and VAB gaining. Conversely, VPB, TCB, ACB, TPB, NAB, BID, VCB, BVB, OCB, and NVB closed in the red.

The "defensive" group of pharmaceutical stocks continued to shine, with IMP, DHT, and MRF notably hitting their upper limits. Additionally, TNH, DVM, DVN, JVC, PBC, DP3, DHG, DBD, VMD, DBT, and DP1 also saw good gains.

The total value of matched orders in today's session was VND 16,677 billion, a 5% decrease compared to yesterday, of which the value of matched orders on the HoSE reached VND 14,235 billion. In the VN30 group, liquidity reached VND 6,453 billion.

Foreign investors continued their net selling streak for the second consecutive session, with a net selling value of VND 1,670 billion today, including VND 1,243 billion in inflows and VND 2,913 billion in sales.

Stocks that experienced significant selling pressure included HDB (406 billion VND), STB (326 billion VND), ACV (201 billion VND), SAB (179 billion VND), SCS (119 billion VND), etc. Conversely, stocks that were mainly bought up included TNH (113 billion VND), NLG (77 billion VND), PC1 (49 billion VND), PLX (27 billion VND), BCM (14 billion VND), etc.
