Stocks were mostly in the red for most of the trading session on October 13, but rebounded just before the close thanks to a few stocks that surged, such as Vietjet .

After a five-session winning streak, selling pressure dominated today's session. The VN-Index retreated below the reference level after the opening auction, maintaining its downward trend until mid-afternoon. Red dominated the trading board with declines in most key sectors, such as securities, banking, and real estate. Oil and gas was one of the few sectors that managed to stay in positive territory, but the increase was smaller than in recent sessions.

This trend continued until 2 PM, when more capital inflows began. The declines gradually narrowed as some stock groups turned green again. By the closing auction, a few stocks surged, such as Vietjet, helping the HoSE index surpass the reference level.

At the close of trading, the VN-Index settled at 1,154.73 points, up 3.12 points and extending its winning streak to six consecutive sessions. The VN30-Index gained more than 1 point. On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index remained in positive territory, while the UPCOM-Index declined slightly.

Total market liquidity reached nearly 16,600 billion VND, with liquidity on the HoSE exchange accounting for nearly 14,000 billion VND. Foreign investors sold net nearly 284 billion VND today.

The biggest gainer among large-cap stocks was Vietjet's VJC. The stock opened in positive territory but fell below the reference price towards the end of the morning session. VJC then traded sideways until 2 PM, before unexpectedly surging. In just the last 30 minutes of trading, the stock jumped over 6%, closing at 103,800 VND.

Besides VJC, GVR and MWG also traded positively with gains of over 2%, SAB added 1.7%, and BID, VCB, HDB, VRE, and MBB closed above the reference price.

In the mid-cap group, some stocks also saw surges in trading. PDR closed the morning session down more than 2%, but like VJC, it surged after 2 PM. At the close, PDR hit its upper limit with nearly 16 million shares changing hands. Several industrial real estate stocks like VGC and IDC closed up more than 2%.

Conversely, some banking and real estate stocks plunged into the red. In the VN30 index,VIB , VHM, BCM, and CTG fell by over 1%, while TCB, VIC, and BVH lost nearly 1% of their market value.
