Prioritize workplace safety.

In the context of deep integration with the global economy, occupational safety has become a mandatory requirement for businesses. In Thai Nguyen, this task is not only considered a legal responsibility but is also identified as a pillar in the sustainable development strategy, contributing to protecting workers, enhancing competitiveness, and strengthening the reputation of businesses.

With over 778,000 people of working age, Thai Nguyen is considered one of the localities with an abundant labor force. The business and cooperative sector alone has attracted over 250,000 workers employed in more than 14,500 production and business units.

High labor density and distribution across various industries make workplace safety an even more critical issue, especially in sectors with high inherent risks such as metallurgy, construction, mechanical engineering, and mining.

In order to ensure the safety of workers and stabilize production, most businesses have given adequate attention to investing in and purchasing equipment for occupational safety.

Many units have invested billions of VND in safety assurance systems, personal protective equipment, warning systems, fire prevention and fighting systems, as well as risk assessment programs. This not only minimizes incidents but also improves productivity and product quality thanks to a stable and uninterrupted working environment.

Mr. Phung Van Thanh, Head of Safety Department, Thai Nguyen Mining Chemical Industry Company, said: Occupational safety is considered an unchangeable principle by the company. It is not only the responsibility of the company's leadership, but also the legitimate right of the employees.

Ms. Dao Thi Mai, Head of Human Resources at NatSteelVina Co., Ltd. (Gia Sang Ward), shared: "The company specializes in steel, and all the work is physically demanding, so employees really need the attention of the unit's leadership regarding their material and spiritual well-being, including attention to employee safety."

In the era of integration, ensuring occupational safety and health for workers during the production process is considered a legal requirement and a cultural norm in production. Before each shift, safety officers pay attention to and encourage workers to comply with regulations, minimizing the risk of accidents.

Based on observations at several factories and construction sites in the province, we have noticed that most businesses proactively develop occupational safety regulations and rules, and display large, easily visible safety posters. This serves as a reminder for workers to pay attention to occupational safety for themselves. In addition, businesses allocate significant resources to training and educating their employees on occupational safety.

In order to support businesses in implementing occupational safety and health measures more effectively, the Provincial Occupational Safety and Health Council proactively advises the Provincial People's Committee to issue numerous plans and direct relevant departments and localities to implement comprehensive solutions related to this issue.

In particular, the Occupational Safety and Health Month, held annually in May, has become a peak period for disseminating information, providing training, and signing commitments between businesses and employees regarding compliance with occupational safety regulations. Inspection and monitoring activities have also been intensified. Following inspections, many businesses have rectified shortcomings in equipment management, personal protective equipment, and machinery operation regulations.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all levels of government, sectors, businesses, and workers, the number of particularly serious accidents in Thai Nguyen province has significantly decreased in recent years. Awareness among employers and employees has improved; safe working practices have become a good habit for workers.

This is a crucial foundation for Thai Nguyen to aim for rapid, green, and sustainable development, placing people at the center of all development policies.
