Almeyda was particularly impressed with Sanchez's footballing intelligence: "He's one of the shortest players but still wins aerial duels. Alexis isn't the fastest but always gets past opponents with his speed. Even when surrounded, he still manages to keep possession. I can only thank him for that intelligence."

These qualities mean Sanchez, who will turn 37 in December, remains a key player in Sevilla's La Liga squad for the 2025/26 season.
