On the afternoon of September 5th, the 2025 National Tourism Conference, chaired by the Vietnam National Tourism Administration and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, took place with the theme "Collaboration – Choosing Destinations – Accelerating Growth".
This event is part of the Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair – ITE HCMC 2025.
According to Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, in the first seven months of 2025, Vietnam welcomed 12.2 million international visitors, an increase of 22.5% compared to the same period in 2024.
This is the highest level in many years, equivalent to nearly 50% of the target of welcoming 25 million tourists for the whole year of 2025.

Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, delivered a speech at the conference.
China continues to be Vietnam's largest source market for tourists with 3.1 million visitors (accounting for 25.5%), followed by South Korea in second place with 2.5 million visitors (accounting for 20.7%).
According to Mr. Ha Van Sieu, in the first seven months of 2025, Ho Chi Minh City led the country with 4.5 million international visitors (a 48% increase). Hue recorded a growth rate of over 41%, reaching over 1.2 million visitors. In addition, Hanoi , Quang Ninh, Da Nang, An Giang, Ninh Binh, Lam Dong, and Nghe An also contributed to the overall growth.
Nevertheless, Mr. Ha Van Sieu emphasized that reaching the target of 25 million international visitors remains a major challenge. With only a few months left in the year, the tourism industry needs to make even stronger efforts to achieve this goal.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietravel Group, proposed solutions to achieve the target of 25 million international tourists.
From a business perspective, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietravel Group, believes that Vietnamese tourism currently lacks nighttime economic products, while the quality of existing services remains quite low.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky suggested that management agencies need to accelerate digital transformation. Continuing to use paper customer lists is both time-consuming and limits management capabilities.
"If an electronic management system is implemented, the data will be transparent, making it convenient to track travel itineraries, while also helping to improve the quality of service and competitiveness of Vietnamese tourism, achieving the set goals," said Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky.
According to a representative from Saigontourist, one of the major obstacles currently is the lengthy immigration procedures at the airport, which take 1–1.5 hours and have led to numerous complaints from tourists.
Therefore, businesses suggest that a mechanism for channeling and creating separate priority lanes for group tours and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) guests is needed to shorten waiting times.
