The book series "Cu Chi - The Land of Steel and Bronze" has been announced.

After four years of work, the book series "Cu Chi - Land of Steel and Bronze" has been completed. The series records sacred memories, vividly reflecting the extremely heroic and rich life, battles, studies, work, and training, filled with love and camaraderie among comrades, fellow soldiers, and compatriots in the heroic land of Cu Chi.

On January 21st, the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held a ceremony to announce the book series "Cu Chi - Land of Steel and Bronze" at the auditorium of the Cu Chi Tunnels Historical Site, An Nhon Tay commune, Ho Chi Minh City.

Cu Chi is a famous "revolutionary sacred land" in the "Iron Triangle" area: Cu Chi-Ben Cat-Trang Bang, a place where "heroes are encountered everywhere." Here, every place name and person's name has gone down in history with glorious achievements forged by the efforts and blood of the people and soldiers of the entire country in the heroic Cu Chi district.

At the Second Congress of Heroes, Emulation Fighters, and Valiant Soldiers of the People's Liberation Armed Forces of Southern Vietnam (September 17, 1967), the army and people of Cu Chi were honored by the Central Committee of the National Liberation Front of Southern Vietnam with the prestigious title "Land of Steel and Bronze" and awarded the Third Class Bronze Medal.

Comrade Tran Van Khuyen, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, said that with the desire to record the sacred memories and the heroic and resilient fighting traditions of veteran revolutionaries, cadres, soldiers, and people who once lived, worked, fought, and studied in the Cu Chi area, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee directed the City Party Committee's Propaganda Department to organize the compilation of the book series "Cu Chi - The Land of Steel and Bronze".

The content of the book series reflects the extremely heroic and rich lives, struggles, studies, work, and training of our compatriots, comrades, and fellow soldiers, filled with love and affection, associated with glorious victories and immense sacrifices made by our comrades and compatriots.

The book series "Cu Chi - Land of Steel and Bronze" (Ho Chi Minh City General Publishing House) comprises 147 articles by leaders, former leaders, officials, soldiers, and people who once lived, worked, and fought in Cu Chi.

The book also compiles articles by several prominent foreign journalists who were present on the Cu Chi battlefield during the years of resistance against the US; chronological tables, images, appendices... help readers appreciate the heroic past with its extraordinary spirit, indomitable will, unwavering loyalty, creative intelligence, strong will, determination to fight and win, and courageous actions that created the extraordinary strength of the Party Committee, army, and people of Cu Chi.

At the same time, the book respectfully honors 2,143 Heroic Vietnamese Mothers of Cu Chi, partly giving readers a glimpse into the sacrifices of Vietnamese Mothers, of the Heroes and Martyrs on the Steel Land, although it is impossible to measure or quantify the blood, bones, and immeasurable sacrifices of the Mothers and the people in the cause of national liberation and reunification.

The book series "Cu Chi - Land of Steel and Bronze" is divided into 3 volumes:

Volume 1 includes the following content: General Issues, with 17 articles by current and former leaders, experts, and researchers, written in a political commentary style, analyzing and evaluating historical events and their significance. Regarding the resistance against the French and American forces in the Cu Chi battlefield, there are 21 articles by historical scientists, military agencies, the Cu Chi District Party Committee, and several witnesses, written in a historical style, with a focus on specific events.

Volume 2 - Recalling and Reflecting, contains 108 articles written or recounted in the form of memoirs and recollections by officers, soldiers, and civilians, detailing specific events and incidents about their lives, work, studies, activities, and battles in the Cu Chi battlefield.

Volume 3 includes the following contents: Chronology of events, Archival photographs, and Appendix.

This book series helps readers appreciate the glorious past and the extraordinary spirit of the Party Committee, army, and people of Cu Chi.

According to Comrade Tran Van Khuyen, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, the articles in the book are truly invaluable documents, vividly reflecting the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism under the leadership of the Regional Party Committee and the City Party Committee; contributing to the education of revolutionary traditions, especially for the younger generation, about the history of the resistance war, the leadership role of the Party, and the arduous lives, struggles, and sacrifices of generations of cadres, Party members, soldiers, and people of Cu Chi.

“The book series 'Cu Chi - The Land of Steel and Bronze' has been officially announced and launched to cadres, Party members, and the people of the city as a tribute to the veteran revolutionaries, cadres, soldiers, and people who once lived, worked, fought, and studied in the Cu Chi area; demonstrating the responsibility and determination of today's generations to preserve and promote the patriotic and revolutionary traditions of our forefathers; and drawing lessons and historical experiences for the construction and protection of the Fatherland today,” Comrade Tran Van Khuyen emphasized.
