A "boost" that creates a new stature.

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - With an estimated GRDP growth rate of 10.24% per year and an economy nearly double the size of the beginning of the term, Thanh Hoa is steadily progressing on the "runway" to becoming a new growth pole. This stature is a culmination of a multifaceted "picture" - outstanding achievements over the past five years of key programs, linked to a series of strategic projects and mechanisms.

The transformation of modern agriculture.

As the 2020-2025 term draws to a close, Thanh Hoa's agriculture and rural areas are marked by significant transformations. The joy stems not only from the quantitative figures – 8 out of 10 targets were met or exceeded – but also from the substantial changes: fragmented fields are now reaching high-tech, sustainable, and green standards, conquering international markets.

In November 2024, the first shipment of "made in Thanh Hoa" rice was officially exported to Singapore. This is the Japonica J02 variety from Japan, grown by Lam Son Sugar Corporation (Lasuco) on 500 hectares of land in Thanh Hoa province according to VietGAP standards. According to Mr. Tran Xuan Trung of Lasuco, the Japonica J02 rice grains are fragrant, flavorful, nutritious, and meet the stringent standards of high-end markets. After Singapore, Lasuco continues to expand exports to Japan – a country with some of the strictest import requirements in the world.

Not only Lasuco, but many businesses such as VINAGREEN Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, Green Carbon, Faegre Japan, etc., are expanding cooperation to bring Thanh Hoa rice to Germany, China, and Indonesia. In particular, the implementation of rice fields with reduced greenhouse gas emissions is opening up a new direction, helping farmers not only increase productivity and save costs but also earn additional income from selling carbon credits – a global market worth billions of USD.

At the community level, the movement to consolidate and concentrate land has spread, forming concentrated production areas of hundreds of hectares, applying mechanization, automation, and the "four-party" linkage. The entire province has consolidated and concentrated an additional 33,800 hectares of land – exceeding the congress's target. Livestock farming is developing towards high-tech farms, ensuring disease safety, food safety, and environmental protection. Investment attraction in agriculture is thriving with many value chains linking production, processing, and consumption. The "One Commune, One Product" (OCOP) program has achieved impressive results, placing Thanh Hoa in the top 3 nationwide.

The "locomotive" of industry is constantly in motion.

If agriculture is the "foundation," then the Nghi Son Economic Zone (NZZ) and industrial parks are the "growth engines" that have helped Thanh Hoa achieve breakthroughs. In just 5 years, the NZZ and industrial parks have attracted 179 new investment projects, with a total registered capital of over 104,878 billion VND and 613 million USD. Budget revenue from this area is estimated at 123,501 billion VND, accounting for more than 52.8% of the province's total budget revenue.

This growth picture is built upon the relentless efforts of traditional businesses and a wave of new investors. Established names continue to conquer new heights, while younger FDI businesses gradually join, contributing many new products to this vibrant market.

At PTSC Thanh Hoa Technical Services Joint Stock Company, in the first six months of 2025 alone, the company safely coordinated 665 vessel voyages at the Harbor, ensuring the supply of crude oil to the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Plant – a crucial link in ensuring national energy security. PTSC Thanh Hoa also maintained high-productivity port base operations, executing a series of logistics contracts for major players in Nghi Son such as the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Plant, Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant, and the Nortalic edible oil and refined oil product manufacturing plant...

Notably, after more than a year of striving to overcome technological challenges and stringent international technical standards, PTSC Thanh Hoa has completed the fabrication of 30 offshore wind turbine foundation pillars – the first project of its kind in Vietnam. At the end of August 2024, the final foundation pillars were transported from PTSC Thanh Hoa Port to Vung Tau (now Ho Chi Minh City) for installation. This success not only affirms the company's modern mechanical manufacturing capabilities but also marks a significant step forward for Thanh Hoa on its journey to becoming one of the three national industrial and energy centers, ready to welcome high-quality FDI, especially in the fields of technology and renewable energy.

Besides traditional "leading enterprises," many new FDI businesses are also contributing to the modern industrial landscape. A prime example is DS HI-TECH VINA Co., Ltd., which operates in the field of manufacturing, processing, and assembling wiring harnesses for automobiles. Having commenced operations in September 2020 at Bim Son Industrial Park, the company has achieved revenue of $30 million and contributed over 600 billion VND to the state budget in just under five years. Mr. Lee Jae Taeg, the company's director, stated: “With a friendly and efficient investment environment for FDI businesses, we plan to expand our factory in Bim Son Industrial Park. The project is expected to commence at the end of this year and be completed by mid-2026. The new facility will not only help us expand our production lines for existing products but also add more automotive parts to serve the export market.”

The stability of traditional industrial products, combined with the launch of many new processed and manufactured products, has driven strong development in Thanh Hoa's industrial and construction sector, with an average annual growth rate of approximately 14.15%, exceeding the congress's target. Industrial production alone achieved an average annual growth rate of 17.05%, becoming a crucial driving force for the province's overall economic growth.

"Leverage" for comprehensive development

Besides the two key programs on agriculture and the National Economic Zone, other priority programs of Thanh Hoa in the 2020-2025 term also made a strong impression, creating "leverage" for comprehensive development.

Notably, the tourism development program has brought about positive changes in the quality and types of services. Many tourism products and services have developed professionally, forming high-end products and community-based ecotourism with their own unique appeal. A series of key projects such as the FLC Sam Son resort complex, along with the restoration of Ho Dynasty Citadel and Lam Kinh, have elevated the quality of services, making Thanh Hoa a "leading attractive destination in the region". By 2025, Thanh Hoa's tourism industry expects to welcome more than 16 million visitors, with total revenue reaching approximately 45.5 trillion VND - impressive figures after the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the mountainous region, the socio-economic development program has been implemented synchronously, with 11 out of 14 target groups completed or exceeded. These efforts have contributed to ensuring social security, sustainable poverty reduction, improving socio-economic infrastructure, preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups, strengthening national unity, and maintaining national border security. The fields of culture, education, health, and Party building have also achieved many positive results, creating a comprehensive development picture and a foundation for Thanh Hoa to move steadily forward on the path of sustainable development.

Mr. Do Dinh Hieu, Director of the VCCI Thanh Hoa - Ninh Binh Branch, commented: “During the 2020-2025 term, Thanh Hoa has achieved many important accomplishments, affirming its position as a new growth pole in the North. In particular, total state budget revenue exceeded 50,000 billion VND for the first time – a figure reflecting smooth management from the provincial level to the grassroots and the spirit of unity and cooperation among the business community and the people.”

Thanh Hoa has made great strides, but there are still many aspirations ahead! The impetus from key programs has not only created momentum for economic growth, but also ignited confidence and fostered the will to strive for success among more than 3.7 million people in Thanh Hoa on this new journey!
