The Chiềng On Border Guard Post manages and protects the border with 19 national border markers; its area of responsibility includes 52 villages, 11 of which are border villages in 2 communes. Due to the fragmented terrain, sparse population, and limited awareness and living standards of the local people, the Post Command has determined that protecting the border requires caring for the people, prioritizing local outreach and legal education. Lieutenant Vàng A Chạ, Team Leader of the Community Mobilization Team at the Chiềng On Border Guard Post, said: The unit coordinates with local Party committees and authorities to encourage people to comply with the Party's policies, the State's laws, and border agreements. In the first six months of the year, the unit organized 27 grassroots awareness sessions, attracting over 4,200 listeners. Simultaneously, they provided guidance on using smartphones, accessing official information, identifying online scams, and installing useful digital applications. This support has helped people in mountainous areas gradually catch up with the digital transformation process and enhance their ability to defend themselves against sophisticated online scams.
The station has coordinated with organizations and philanthropists to implement many social welfare activities and meaningful projects. Since the beginning of the year, the unit has coordinated the construction of a solar-powered street lighting system for the people of Co Tom, Trang Nam, Na Dit villages in Yen Son commune and Hang Can village in Phieng Khoai commune, with a total length of over 3 km and a value of more than 250 million VND; built the "Loving Classroom - Helping Children Go to School" project at Trang Nam village school, with a total value of nearly 900 million VND; and donated 621 gifts worth 400 million VND to students and disadvantaged households during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year).

Lieutenant Colonel Ha Van Chinh, Commander of Chieng On Border Guard Station, reported: The unit is stepping up livelihood support programs to help local people restructure their economy and escape poverty. In addition, they continue to sponsor five disadvantaged students with 500,000 VND per month and care for two orphaned children at the unit. Military medical services are also being actively implemented, providing free medical examinations and medication to over 350 people.
Present in Na Cai village, Yen Son commune, the changes are evident in the green hillsides covered with fruit trees and the well-maintained concrete roads extending to every house. The new face of this border village today is thanks to the support and contributions of the Border Guard forces. Mr. Vi Van Chien, Party Secretary and Head of Na Cai village, said: "Compared to before, the lives of the people have fundamentally changed. Thanks to the Border Guard, 100% of the villagers now understand the harmful effects of drug crimes and do not listen to bad people involved in smuggling or illegal migration. Especially, security and order are stable, allowing the people to work and produce with peace of mind, developing the economy."

Currently, the two border communes maintain a stable 11 self-governing groups with 322 households that have signed agreements to independently protect the border and boundary markers, along with 52 self-governing groups with 343 members participating in maintaining security and order in the villages. The unit regularly coordinates with functional forces to promptly prevent violations of the Agreement on the Border Management Regulations between Vietnam and Laos , maintaining political security in the area.
Lieutenant Colonel Lo Van Hiep, Political Officer of Chieng On Border Guard Station, emphasized: "The companionship of officers and soldiers has brought about a change in the awareness of the people. From waiting and relying on others, the people of Yen Son and Phieng Khoai communes have developed a spirit of self-reliance to develop the economy, actively cooperate with the troops in patrolling and protecting the border, and proactively provide many valuable sources of information on security and order."
The practical and concrete actions of the officers and soldiers of Chiềng On Border Guard Station have built firm trust in the hearts of the people. This is the root of consolidating the "people's support" and building a strong all-people border defense system, contributing to the firm protection of national sovereignty and border security from the grassroots level.
