The Canon R6 III model with the new RF 45mm F/1.2 lens. |
Recently, Canon launched the EOS R6 III in Vietnam, simultaneously with its global release. This entry-level model focuses on high-quality video recording. Compared to the high-end R5, this model is in a lower price segment in terms of still photography capabilities. However, it offers open-gate RAW recording.
Similar to its main competitor, the Nikon Z6 III, the R6 III also supports a pre-shooting function. This solution automatically saves a series of frames before the photographer presses the shooter button. This technology is useful for capturing fleeting moments, catering to the needs of sports and wildlife photography.
It also addresses the issue of viewfinder lag, which has made many professional photographers hesitant to switch from mirrorless to flip-top cameras.
Priced at 72 million VND, this device from the Japanese manufacturer records at a maximum of 7K resolution and RAW format. It also supports C-log 2 and 3 profiles. The product supports professional functions such as CF Type B recording cards, waveform viewing, and the addition of custom color LUTs.
Canon remains strong in ergonomics, offering a comfortable and convenient grip for handheld shooting. However, compared to higher-end models, this product lacks the secondary screen for viewing from above.

Video recording functionality has become a point of competition among camera manufacturers. |
After seven years of seriously shifting its focus to mirrorless cameras, Canon is gradually showing signs of recovery in Vietnam. The company says it is leading the domestic market share with a 17% lead over its competitors.
This company's strategy gradually shifted towards stronger video recording options as its content creator customer base grew. Affordable crop-sensor cameras with good image stabilization helped the company capture market share in the low-end segment for vloggers. In this price range, Sony has representatives in the ZV series, but they are more expensive. Nikon has not released any crop-sensor cameras other than the Z50 and Zf, making it less competitive.
However, Canon still lacks more specialized camcorder lines for semi-professional users. The R6 III remains a hybrid device, serving both still photography and video recording needs.
