In 2024, Hue University will have 153 undergraduate training majors, 108 master's training majors, and 58 doctoral training majors; 63 majors for training level I and II specialists; 12 majors for training resident doctors. The training scale in 2024 will reach 54.175 students; 4.148 graduate students, and 602 doctoral students. These numbers not only reflect the strong training capacity of Hue University but also demonstrate the important influence of Hue University in developing high-quality human resources for the whole country.

The workshop attracted many reports evaluating the outstanding achievements of Hue University in nearly 70 years of construction and development, especially in the 30 years of re-establishment (1994-2024), pointing out the advantages, difficulties, challenges, proposing solutions to help Hue University develop in the coming time, affirming the readiness of Hue University to develop into a National University.

At the workshop, delegates focused on discussing the current context of higher education; the difficulties and obstacles of the Regional University model; affirming that the development of Hue University into a National University is a consistent and continuous policy of the Party and State; the laws and sub-law documents regulating university autonomy are not complete and overlap each other; the companionship of the province. The tradition, position and role of Hue University accumulated over nearly 70 years of construction and development, especially in the 30 years of re-establishment, have created for Hue University the stature of a national educational institution, carrying within itself the uniqueness and quintessence of education and vocational training to serve the defense of the Fatherland and the development of the country. The multidisciplinary and multi-field nature of Hue University's training is considered to be particularly evident with a full range of training majors and groups.

Over nearly 70 years of construction and development, especially 30 years of re-establishment under Decree 30/CP of the Government, Hue University has trained and awarded degrees to about 320.265 doctors, pharmacists, engineers, bachelors; nearly 24.230 masters and nearly 700 PhDs. In the 2018-2024 period alone, Hue University has trained and provided society with a large number of high-quality human resources, including 45.227 bachelors, doctors, engineers and architects; about 7.000 masters; more than 200 PhDs; and nearly 7.000 level I and II specialists.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Le Anh Phuong, in recent years, Hue University has always maintained high rankings in prestigious world university rankings. According to the QS Asia University Rankings 2024, Hue University continues to maintain its position of 351-400 in Asia and according to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2024, Hue University continues to maintain its position of 1.501+ in the world and is one of the 1 best higher education institutions in Vietnam.

“Since 2014, Hue University has carried out many projects to meet the requirements of educational innovation; many projects have been applied in practice, bringing socio-economic values ​​to the provinces in the Central Highlands and the whole country, creating a ripple effect in society. Currently, Hue University has established cooperative relationships with more than 400 universities, research institutes and educational science organizations in more than 30 countries around the world; implemented 21 joint undergraduate and postgraduate training programs with foreign universities,” said Associate Professor, Dr. Le Anh Phuong.

Develop into National University

Speaking at the workshop, delegates said that Hue University is still focusing all resources to invest in building facilities and equipment; promoting staff training, especially highly qualified lecturers; synchronously and drastically implementing many solutions to improve the quality of training and scientific research; continuing to supplement and complete the Project to develop Hue University into a National University according to the provisions of Decree 125/2024/ND-CP of the Government.
