The defendants listen as the verdict is announced.

Once successful, Triet sold the drugs to Tran Van Duong (born in 1997, residing in Binh Khanh Ward, Long Xuyen City). Nguyen Minh Tan (born in 2001, residing in Binh Duc Ward); Tran Van Thanh Toan (born in 2000) and Nguyen Minh Tai (born in 1994, residing in An Chau Town, Chau Thanh District) also participated in assisting in the crime.

On September 18, 2024, the Long Xuyen City Police Investigation Agency conducted an urgent search of Triet's residence, seizing two guns. These included one complete gun, one model gun, 11 metal bullet casings, 8 plastic bullet casings, 7 bullets, 4 artillery shells, and other related items. Triet confessed to successfully selling four guns to three individuals and repairing one gun for Toan. Authorities quickly conducted an urgent search of Toan's residence and that of Tran Van Thanh Phat (born in 1976, both residing in My Long Ward), seizing one unregistered revolver and 12 bullets.

Simultaneously, an emergency search was conducted at the residences of Duong, Tan, and Tai, resulting in the seizure of one revolver and six bullets. On September 21, 2024, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Long Xuyen City Police transferred the case file, evidence, and related individuals to the Provincial Police's Security Investigation Agency. Based on the investigation results, on September 30, 2024, Triet, Toan, Duong, Tai, and Tan were charged with "Illegal possession of military weapons." Subsequently, Triet was further charged with "Illegal manufacture, use, and sale of military weapons," and Toan with "Illegal use of military weapons." At the same time, the charge against Duong was changed to "Illegal sale of military weapons."

The defendants' criminal behavior has been clarified. Around mid-2023, Triet bought a model gun (Sky, ZP5 type) and bullet casings online for 750,000 VND. After watching a video clip about modifying guns (from plastic bullet guns to lead bullet guns), Triet continued to buy parts on Facebook and assembled a complete gun. After completing the gun and ammunition, Triet took the gun to Duong's house and fired two shots, only one of which exploded; he also fired several times in his bedroom.

The aforementioned guns were used, sold, or given away by Triet. Specifically, Triet sold a revolver-type handgun and 6 bullets to Duong for 1 million dong. Duong resold the gun to Tai for 2 million dong. Fearing discovery, Tai took the "goods" to Tan for safekeeping. Triet also sold an incomplete gun to Duong for 1.5 million dong. After failing to fire during a test, Duong returned it to Triet.

Furthermore, the investigation determined that around mid-2021, Toan joined a gun trading group on Facebook and purchased a ZP-5 pistol and 6 bullets (priced at 5.5 million VND). He then took the gun to the "Abandoned Field" area (My Phuoc ward) to test fire it. The gun malfunctioned, so Toan took it home and hid it. About 5 days later, Toan ordered 12 more bullets (priced at 385,000 VND). On September 14, 2024, Toan took the gun to Triet's house to have it repaired, then took it home and hid it. On September 18, 2024, knowing that the police were searching Triet's house, Toan took the gun and 12 bullets to Phat's house to hide it, but Phat was unaware.

Considering that the defendants' actions violated the law, but not to a serious degree, and their attitude was sincere, the Provincial People's Court sentenced Triet to 2 years and 9 months in prison; Duong and Toan each received 21 months in prison; and Tai and Tan each received 18 months in prison, with suspended sentences.
