The other day, during a moment of leisure, I browsed through my smartphone's photo folder and found a dedicated section for friends. Scrolling through, I discovered even more detailed subcategories, such as spring, summer, May at home, together, portraits, memorable days, anniversaries, trips... And even the time and place were clearly specified. Just a quick glance revealed a full range of emotions, joys and sorrows, memories, thoughts and feelings, faces I'd met and remembered, some remembering, some forgetting...
After scrolling for a while, I clicked on a "Memorable Day" that appeared on the screen. The result was a video clip with music, incorporating photos and videos from a business trip. Unexpectedly, it turned out to be a business trip filled with the final moments and various emotions experienced in a locality undergoing an merger.
During that business trip, we interacted with, met, and talked to many people, from the provincial level down to the district and commune levels. We even met people we had never met before in various locations throughout the province. These conversations, whether fleeting or profound, whether in the office or on the road, in cafes or while strolling, clearly revealed our thoughts and feelings. There was worry, regret, and longing. But most importantly, there was a shared excitement, anticipation, and hope for good things to come, for each individual, for each locality, and for the country as a whole.
Let's try another "Memorable Day." It was another business trip, but with the same feeling of knowing in advance about the day when the local name, administrative unit, current job, and place of residence would come to an end. The people I met in a locality not subject to merger, with only two levels of government remaining, shared the same anxieties, worries, expectations, and hopes.
And within just my smartphone, there are countless other memorable days, countless moments and memories recorded, whether intentionally or unintentionally. Just having the time to touch and scroll through them is enough to see the fragments of memories that have unfolded throughout my working life, with shared and personal experiences rich in emotion, impression, and even haunting moments, both memorable and forgettable.
That's just the recent period, linked to the merger of specific administrative units and boundaries, along with the people I've had the chance to meet, talk to, confide in, and share with. There are countless other trips I've taken with people of diverse backgrounds, destinies, moods, and thoughts. But I firmly believe that everyone longs for and anticipates success, and everyone is determined to turn their beautiful dreams into reality. At least for themselves and their families...
And of course, for everyone, memorable moments or special days can only be remembered after they have passed. What has happened and been experienced can never return, no matter how much you wish or yearn for it. Therefore, let the memories of what is worth forgetting fade away, using them as experiences and lessons, and only strive to nurture and arrange things so that the memorable ones remain, inspiring, motivating, and giving us faith and hope for the good things to come in the future. Let the memorable remain, so that the future will not be a forgettable past when we look back later. To let the memorable remain means that each of us always cherishes the past, forgetting what is worth forgetting in order to nurture, build upon, and strengthen the good things that are precious, valuable, and worthy of preservation...
