Located in the southwestern part of the province, about 30 km from the center of Quy Nhon city, the mountainous district of Van Canh is home to ethnic minority groups such as the Cham H'roi, Bana, Thai, and Muong, contributing to a diverse traditional cultural identity; among them, the Cham H'roi and Bana ethnic groups make up the majority, possessing many unique cultural heritages.

Van Canh district currently has 3 provincial-level historical sites, including: the Green Uniforms Military Post - the site of the 1945 uprising to seize power (Van Canh town); Da Hue Hill (Canh Thuan commune) and Muc Thinh railway station (Canh Hoa commune), contributing to creating more destinations for tourists interested in learning about local history and culture.
Mr. Le Thanh Nhon, Head of the Culture, Science and Information Department of Van Canh District, said: “Along with its potential for beautiful mountains and streams, Van Canh can also develop cultural tourism and community tourism with its charming Cham H'roi and Bana villages. There you will find stilt houses, traditional brocade weaving, the resounding sounds of gongs and traditional musical instruments, and folk rituals unique to each ethnic group… Van Canh is an ideal stop for tourists who want to explore the lives of the local people.”

From May 30th to June 1st, Van Canh district will host the 2025 Culture and Tourism event. During this period, visitors to Van Canh will experience prominent destinations such as Ka Te Stone Stream, Mot Stream, Canh Thuan longan orchard, Nui Mot Lake in Canh Tien village, and immerse themselves in the lively atmosphere of activities like: a folk dance festival with the theme "Harmonizing with the dances of the great forest," an impressive Van Canh camp, folk games, a traditional cake-making festival; the first "Charming Becamex - Van Canh" contest - 2025, a street festival; and the first Becamex - Van Canh cycling race - 2025 with the theme "Exploring the great forest - A journey to conquer all limits"...

According to Mr. Ngo Thanh Tuan, Director of the Culture, Sports & Information Center of Van Canh District, this year's Culture and Tourism event organized by Van Canh District has many highlights. At the 3rd Van Canh District Folk Dance Festival, Gong and Drum Culture Festival, and Traditional Costume Performance of Ethnic Minorities - 2025, taking place on the evening of May 31st at the district stadium, there will be additional guest teams from Vinh Thanh and Dong Xuan districts ( Phu Yen province) participating in the exchange and performance of gongs, folk dances, folk music, and traditional costumes; some excerpts recreating festivals of the Cham H'roi and Bana people will also be featured. On the afternoon and evening of June 1st, at the Becamex VSIP Binh Dinh Industrial Park (Canh Vinh commune), a Street Festival and the "Charming Becamex - Van Canh" Contest will take place, creating a vibrant cultural and artistic playground for local people, workers in the industrial park, and tourists. The cycling exchange event will involve approximately 80-100 athletes from cycling clubs in districts, towns, cities, agencies, and businesses throughout the province…

Discover the beautiful scenery, cultural identity, and people of Van Canh region. At this Cultural and Tourism event, visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy rustic dishes such as: stir-fried ant eggs with onions, grilled black pork, boiled rattan shoots with chili salt dip, upland rice, stir-fried cassava leaves and papaya shoots, golden ant egg salt..., along with the unique flavor of mountain rice wine, which will leave an unforgettable impression.
