The focus is on activities to support and care for union members and workers in difficult circumstances, those who have suffered work accidents, occupational diseases, or serious illnesses; cultural and sports activities; health check-ups; understanding the thoughts and aspirations of union members and workers and promptly addressing their requests and suggestions…
As a result, the entire province had 46,553 union members, workers, and employees who benefited from activities providing material and spiritual support, with a total amount exceeding 20 billion VND. 100% of grassroots trade unions in all types of enterprises had at least one activity in response to Workers' Month, and 100% of grassroots trade unions in administrative agencies and public service units had at least one appropriate activity in response to Workers' Month.
Following the launch ceremony, the Provincial Labor Union established a working group to visit and inquire about the production and business situation of enterprises; the lives and employment of workers, and presented 215 gifts (1 million VND in cash each). In addition, it decided to support 205 union members and workers with particularly difficult circumstances and 276 union members suffering from serious illnesses, work accidents, and occupational diseases at all levels of the union, totaling 481 million VND. In coordination with the Department of Health, it organized two rounds of the "Your Health" program, providing healthcare and free medicine to 390 union members and workers, with a total expenditure of over 1.4 billion VND.
The 2025 Workers' Month was held with many practical activities for union members and workers.
The higher-level trade unions directly above the grassroots level simultaneously implemented many practical activities. Three out of 15 units organized launching ceremonies for the Workers' Month and the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health; all 15 units organized visits and provided support to 2,978 union members and workers facing difficult circumstances, occupational diseases, serious illnesses, and work accidents (over 1.6 billion VND); eight out of 15 units organized "Workers' Day" and cultural and sports activities attracting over 2,000 union members and workers (over 1.1 billion VND).
At the grassroots level, activities are organized in a practical and flexible manner, tailored to the specific situation of each unit and enterprise. Highlights include activities focused on caring for the material and spiritual well-being of union members and workers; visiting and giving gifts to workers facing difficulties, those who have suffered work accidents or occupational diseases; and organizing programs such as "Thank You to the Workers," "Workplace Dialogue," "Workers' Day," sports events, and cultural performances. Through these efforts, 42,248 union members received support from grassroots trade unions, totaling over 15 billion VND.
According to Ms. Lu Thi Kim Thuy, Vice President of the An Giang Provincial Labor Union, during Workers' Month, the entire province supported 68 "Union Homes" for union members facing housing difficulties, totaling over 2.3 billion VND. Of this, the Provincial Labor Union supported 10 homes (575 million VND); and the Labor Unions of districts, towns, and cities supported 58 homes (over 1.8 billion VND). Labor unions at all levels visited and provided sick leave allowances to 1,095 union members and workers, totaling 547 million VND. In addition, diverse cultural, artistic, and sports activities were organized, attracting over 20,000 union members, workers, and employees.
May is associated with the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth and the promotion of the 2025 thematic program on "An Giang learning from and following the example of President Ho Chi Minh and President Ton Duc Thang in caring for the people's lives." Besides organizing conferences for dissemination and study, trade unions at all levels organized conferences to commend outstanding individuals and groups in "Learning from and following the example of President Ho Chi Minh and President Ton Duc Thang" (Long Xuyen City); and commended exemplary individuals and groups in the emulation movement of excellent and creative labor (trade unions in industrial zones, Tri Ton district).
One of the key activities is the development of new union members and the establishment of trade union organizations in enterprises, a focus of which the trade union has been intensely committed to. The Provincial Federation of Labor Unions has established two working groups to survey 12 enterprises in 6 districts (Chau Phu, Chau Thanh, Cho Moi, Tri Ton, Thoai Son, Phu Tan) to assess the situation, production and business activities, implementation of labor laws, recruitment needs, and to guide and support the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions. As a result, the province established 9 grassroots trade unions, recruited 1,445 new members, and recommended 408 outstanding members for the Party to consider for admission.
The year 2025 marks many important historical milestones for the country and is the first year of implementing the new Trade Union Law. The Standing Committee of the Provincial Federation of Labor Unions assessed that this year's Workers' Month saw many units with creative approaches, flexible and innovative activities tailored to the actual conditions of localities, agencies, units, and businesses, which were widely received by union members, workers, and employees; and received attention and support from Party committees, government agencies, and employers. The activities of the 2025 Workers' Month truly attracted the attention of the entire society, had a positive impact, and became a major festival for workers.
