The Northwest region recorded temperatures generally ranging from 31-34°C, with some areas approaching the heatwave threshold of over 34°C. In the Northeast region, although temperatures were lower, they still fluctuated at high levels, around 27-30°C, with some areas exceeding 30°C.
The sweltering weather has made the spring atmosphere feel strange; many people have switched to wearing short-sleeved shirts, and families have to use fans to combat the heat at midday.
However, from tonight, a cold air mass will begin to affect our country, causing scattered rain and showers, and thunderstorms in some areas of Northern and North Central Vietnam. Northern Vietnam and Thanh Hoa will experience cold weather from tomorrow, March 3rd, mainly at night and in the morning, with widespread cold throughout the day, concentrated in the mountainous areas of the Northeast region.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting's weather forecast for March, hot weather is likely to continue in the southeastern region of Vietnam, and may extend to the southwestern region from the end of the month.
The cold air mass continues to be active and tends to shift eastward, resulting in severe cold spells concentrated in the first half of the month, mainly in the mountainous areas of Northern Vietnam.
Light rain, drizzle, and fog continue to occur in provinces in the Northeast and North Central regions, posing a risk of humid weather. Besides drizzle, the Northern region, from Thanh Hoa to Quang Ngai, and the eastern parts of Gia Lai and Dak Lak may experience some periods of widespread rain. The Central Highlands and Southern regions may experience some days of unseasonal rain.
