According to Digital Trends , Apple is reportedly working on some major updates to its iPhone lineup later this year. The company is considering replacing the current Plus model with a new version called the Air. Previously, major news sites only reported concept renders and 3D printed models related to the iPhone 17 Air model, but a recent leak provides the first real-life images of this new generation of products.
Leakster Majin Bu shared an image of a user holding the iPhone 17 Air. The device looks like a complete replica, similar to the one on display at retail stores. It uses a metal frame and a two-tone glass back, a design that many sources believe will appear on the iPhone 17 series, including the new ultra-thin iPhone model.
Compared to previous 3D prints and renderings, the newly revealed camera cluster on the iPhone 17 Air is somewhat different. Instead of being seamless with the back, the camera cluster in the newly leaked image looks more prominent. Apple's familiar design language is still maintained, which can easily make users feel bored. In addition, the pill-shaped camera cluster makes the device look quite similar to Google's Pixel 9 series.
Excluding the elongated camera cluster, the overall design of the iPhone 17 Air is quite similar to the iPhone 16e. In addition, the thickness of the camera cluster is still an undetermined factor due to the transparency effect of the leaked image. According to previously published information, the iPhone 17 Air will be equipped with a 48 MP rear camera and a new generation 24 MP selfie camera. The device is expected to use the A19 chip manufactured on a 3 nm process, accompanied by 12 GB of RAM.
This model is rumored to be only 5.1 mm thin, with a 6.7-inch OLED screen and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The iPhone 17 Air will likely remove the physical SIM slot, switching completely to eSIM. Regarding the connection port, Apple will equip this smartphone with an internal modem, but it is unclear whether this is a new chip line or still uses the same C1 modem as on the iPhone 16e.
