Long An is becoming a hot spot in the real estate market thanks to its location bordering Ho Chi Minh City and its great development potential. The increasingly improved transportation infrastructure is a factor driving strong interest from major real estate developers.
Elevating urban areas
On March 26th, Vingroup officially commenced construction of Vinhomes Green City, the group's first mixed-use urban complex in Long An province. The project covers 197.2 hectares and is located in Hau Nghia town, Duc Lap Thuong commune, and Tan My commune in Duc Hoa district. This is the first urban complex in Vingroup's ecosystem in Long An, marking a significant development for the group in the Northwest area of Ho Chi Minh City. The total investment is projected at over 28,000 billion VND, with an estimated population of 40,000 people.
Vinhomes Green City boasts superior infrastructure connectivity. From the project, residents can easily travel to Ho Chi Minh City via National Highway 22 (Trans-Asian Highway) or Provincial Road 825 (Provincial Road 10 - CT02), as well as to the Southwestern provinces and Cambodia via National Highway 1A, National Highway 22, and the CT02 expressway. The completion of key transportation projects such as Ring Road 4, Ring Road 3, and the Ben Thanh - Tham Luong Metro Line 2 will further enhance the project's connectivity value.

Vingroup commences construction on Vinhomes Green City project - the group's first mixed-use urban complex in Long An.
According to Mr. Nguyen Viet Quang, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Vingroup, Vinhomes Green City will create a new, modern standard of living for residents, while attracting businesses, investors, and a high-quality workforce to live and work there. The urban area is comprehensively planned with many open transportation axes, a modern amenities system, and a 9.6-hectare commercial complex within the complex. It promises to be a bustling commercial center of the Northwest urban economic corridor of Ho Chi Minh City.
Besides the Vinhomes Green City project, in February, the joint venture between Vinhomes JSC (a member of Vingroup) and Vietnam Investment Group JSC also launched the Phuoc Vinh Tay new urban area project in Can Giuoc district, Long An province. The project covers an area of 1,090 hectares, bordered to the north by the Rach Van River, to the south and east by the Phuoc Vinh Tay residential area and the communes of Long Phung, Dong Thanh, and Phuoc Vinh Dong; and to the west by the Can Giuoc River.
The Phuoc Vinh Tay urban area is divided into 3 sub-areas, with a population of nearly 90,000 people. The total investment capital for the project is approximately 80,079 billion VND. It is expected that from now until the end of the year, the investor will carry out compensation and land clearance; from Q1/2026 to Q4/2027, infrastructure construction and resettlement arrangements will be completed; and from Q1/2028 to Q4/2030, the project will be completed and put into operation.
Long An's significant transformation
At the groundbreaking ceremony for Vinhomes Green City, Mr. Nguyen Van Ut, Chairman of the Long An Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that this is a significant turning point in the local development. The project will not only improve infrastructure quality and attract investment but also create thousands of jobs for local workers, while bringing a new standard of living to residents.
With a series of multi-billion dollar projects underway, Long An is undergoing a strong transformation, becoming a center for urban and industrial development in the Southwest region and an important gateway connecting with Ho Chi Minh City.
According to investigations by reporters from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, in addition to Vingroup's projects, a number of other "big players" are also implementing projects in Long An, such as Nam Long Corporation with the 355-hectare Waterpoint project - Nam Long's largest project to date; and T&T Group, owned by businessman Do Quang Hien (Chairman Hien), developing the T&T Millennia City project in Can Giuoc district, aiming to become a model urban area.

Ecopark Group is developing the Eco Retreat project, a 220-hectare development focused on green spaces and living environments in harmony with nature. Notably, right next to Vinhomes Green City, MIK Group has developed the Imperia Grand Plaza Duc Hoa project on an 11.3-hectare site. The project includes 426 commercial townhouses in an Asian-European architectural style, planned into three unique neighborhoods.
An Huy Group (a major name in the real estate industry in Northern Vietnam) is also about to start construction on the An Huy - Duc Hoa urban area project on My Hanh Road, My Hanh Bac Commune, Duc Hoa District. The first phase of the project covers 60 hectares, including 2,250 land plots, townhouses, villas, and shophouses, all planned with a modern system of amenities. Mr. Nguyen The Bach, Chairman of An Huy Group, stated that this is a strategic project for the group to capitalize on the infrastructure development in the Duc Hoa area.
According to Mr. Pham Lam, Vice President of the Vietnam Real Estate Brokers Association, Long An has a strategic location bordering Ho Chi Minh City, with a large land reserve and competitive land development costs. The increasingly improved transportation infrastructure – including ring roads, expressways, and a metro system – is a factor driving the rapid development of the province's real estate market.
Many localities are accelerating their efforts.
Along with Long An, many localities in the Mekong Delta are also accelerating the implementation of infrastructure projects and attracting investors to achieve high economic growth targets in the coming period. For example, Ca Mau is implementing the project to expand and upgrade Ca Mau Airport, invested by the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), with a total capital of approximately 2,400 billion VND. The project is expected to improve trade capacity, promote the exchange of goods, and create momentum for the development of Ca Mau province.
On March 17th, the authorities of Ca Mau City completed the field survey and drafted the compensation, support, and resettlement plan for 604 affected households and organizations. Ca Mau Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai emphasized that this is a key project, and any delay would significantly impact the local development. Upon completion, this project, along with other key projects, will create conditions for the province to achieve double-digit growth, attract businesses to invest, and develop other industries in the locality. "Absolutely no delays in the project due to coordination issues must occur, and the land must be handed over by April 15th so that ACV can prepare for construction. Ca Mau province is preparing the land for construction, not making the investor wait," the Provincial Party Secretary stressed.
Meanwhile, the People's Committee of Can Tho City has just announced a decision approving the investment policy and granting an investment registration certificate to Thanh Binh Phu My Joint Stock Company to implement the project of constructing and operating infrastructure for Vinh Thanh Industrial Park (phase 2).
The project has a total investment of 7,850 billion VND and is being implemented on an area of over 540 hectares in Vinh Trinh and Vinh Binh communes, Vinh Thanh district. This is the 7th industrial park of Can Tho City, oriented towards development according to the model of industry clusters, taking advantage of the potential and advantages of the city and the Mekong Delta region.
The Vinh Thanh Industrial Park will flexibly meet the land use needs of heavy industries, high-value-added industries, supporting industries, port operations, and logistics services. Mr. Duong Tan Hien, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, stated that the project is of significant importance in attracting investment, creating jobs, and promoting the development of specialized industries. The People's Committee of Can Tho City is committed to supporting investors in land clearance, resettlement area construction, transportation infrastructure development, and promptly resolving any issues arising during implementation.
Tens of billions of USD poured into Phu Quoc.
The People's Committee of Kien Giang province is accelerating the implementation of 30 major projects in preparation for the APEC 2027 High-Level Week in Phu Quoc, including 18 public investment projects with a total capital of 52,300 billion VND and 12 non-budgetary projects, calling for investment of over 168,000 billion VND.
Currently, Phu Quoc has approximately 320 projects covering a total area of 10,652 hectares, with a registered capital of over 412,000 billion VND. To prepare for APEC 2027, Phu Quoc will expand its airport to over 1,000 hectares, reaching level 4E. The project includes extending the runway to 3.5 km, constructing a new 3.3 km runway, building Terminal 2 with a capacity of 20 million passengers, parking for 70 aircraft, a VIP terminal, maintenance area, and cargo warehouse.
The An Thoi International Seaport will be upgraded to 100 hectares, large enough to accommodate the world's largest cruise ships such as Icon of the Seas (carrying 10,000 passengers). Transportation routes from Phu Quoc International Airport to the APEC Convention Center will be expanded, including the urban ferry route, the eastern coastal road, the Duong Dong - North Island axis, the East-West Boulevard, and the 68-meter-wide, 3-kilometer-long APEC Boulevard.
The APEC multi-functional complex is a key highlight, built on 57 hectares of reclaimed land and capable of accommodating 15,000 people. Notably, Phu Quoc will see the construction of a 69-story iconic building – combining offices, a hotel, a shopping center, a duty-free zone, and a marina – creating momentum for sustainable development and attracting investment.
