The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has submitted a proposal to the City People's Committee regarding tuition fee support for students in the city for the 2024-2025 school year.
The report states that, considering the economic recovery and growth factors in 2024, the Department of Education and Training proposes that the City People's Committee approve the policy of providing tuition fee support for the 2024-2025 school year. This policy will apply to students in public and private secondary schools and continuing education programs at the secondary level within the city. It will not apply to students studying at educational institutions with foreign investment.
The policy will be in effect for 9 months of the 2024-2025 school year.
The funding for tuition fee support will be sourced from the city budget. The expected support level is 100,000 VND/student/month for Group 1 and 85,000 VND/student/month for Group 2.
Group 1 consists of students from schools in Thu Duc City and the following districts: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, and Binh Tan.
Group 2 consists of students attending schools in the districts of Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Nha Be, and Can Gio.
According to the department, the estimated budget for implementing the tuition fee support policy is 421 billion VND. Of this, 399 billion VND is for tuition fee exemption for public school students, and 22 billion VND for private school students.
