Binh Dinh has become an unmissable destination on the Vietnamese tourism map in recent years. With its pristine, clear beaches, rich culture, and long-standing historical values, Binh Dinh has become a favorite choice for many domestic and international tourists.
With its inherent scenic beauty, the DT.639 coastal road will be an ideal destination for backpackers.
C. WINDMILL FIELD
Located about 10 km north of Quy Nhon city center, the wind farm on Phuong Mai peninsula (Cat Tien commune, Phu Cat district, Binh Dinh province) is becoming a popular check-in spot for tourists.
This wind farm was built with an investment of $40 million, comprising 6 wind turbines (each with a capacity of 3.5 MW), each 114 meters high, with a rotor span of over 100 meters, installed on an area of 122 hectares. These are also the largest wind turbines in Vietnam currently.
Not only is this wind farm near Quy Nhon, but it's also close to famous tourist destinations like Ky Co Beach and Trung Luong Beach. Therefore, finding your way here is not difficult at all. Moreover, its proximity to popular tourist spots makes the wind farm an extremely convenient destination for those who want to visit multiple tourist attractions at once.
To reach the wind farm, visitors have three options: they can take the scenic DT.638 road, or from Phu Cat airport, follow the QL19B highway, or finally, from the center of Quy Nhon city, head north for about 10 km.
At the wind farm, tourists will witness "giants" standing amidst sand dunes, slowly turning their turbines. This sight is truly magnificent. Surrounded by mountains on three sides and the vast, azure sea on one side, this place promises not to disappoint visitors.
Currently, the wind turbine field has become a very popular check-in spot for young people in Binh Dinh province and across the country. In addition, thanks to the beauty of the wind turbines, the tourism industry of Binh Dinh province also continuously organizes outdoor programs on Phuong Mai peninsula.
In summer, with clear blue skies and sunshine illuminating the white sands, this is the best time of year to take photos at the wind farm. There are two ideal times to visit: early morning and 4 PM. These are the times when the wind farm produces the most beautiful photos thanks to the gentle sunlight.
Tourists enjoy taking photos at the wind farm.
P. HITTING ALONG THE COASTAL ROAD
Continuing from the wind turbine field along the coast northward, you'll find Provincial Road 639. This is the most beautiful coastal road in Binh Dinh, with enormous potential for tourism development.
This road, spanning over 115 km along the coastal region of Binh Dinh province, has seen the completion of over 40 km of coastal road through Phu Cat district. The total investment for the entire project exceeds 9,000 billion VND. Running parallel to National Highway 1, connecting Quy Nhon city to Hoai Nhon town, the road is expected to create a comprehensive development impetus for the eastern part of Binh Dinh province.
Although only a portion of the project has been completed, the DT.639 road has been put into use and has received many positive reviews from locals and tourists. It would be a shame to visit Binh Dinh province without traveling along this road at least once. Driving along the more than 40 km of the coastal DT.639, tourists will witness dozens of high-quality photo spots.
With its graceful curves and pristine blue coastline, it's hard for tourists to drive through without stopping to admire the scenery. Moreover, just along this route, visitors can enjoy a variety of beautiful sights, from lush green rice paddies under the morning sun to expansive white sandy beaches, rustling pine forests, and majestic mountains… All of this is packed into a stretch of road just a few dozen kilometers long.
Thanks to its breathtaking scenery, this coastal road became incredibly popular with travel enthusiasts in 2023. Many motorcycle lovers flocked here to enjoy the rare beauty. In the near future, this tourist destination promises to become even more famous.
From May to July is the best time to see seaweed at Hon Kho Island.
VISITING HON KHO ISLAND TO ADMIRE SEAWEED
For a long time, the fishing village of Nhon Hai, Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh province) has been famous for its beautiful beach and well-preserved coral reefs near the shore, always captivating tourists. Hon Kho islet is one of 32 islands located near the shore, about 16 km from the center of Quy Nhon City.
From around the end of May to mid-July is the seaweed season at Hon Kho Island. When the tide recedes, the seaweed is revealed in its characteristic yellow color. Notably, a unique 500-meter-long underwater path is also exposed, making it even easier for visitors to explore the beautiful seaweed clusters.
The Sargassum seaweed found on Hon Kho Island, scientifically known as Sargassum, grows attached to coral reefs and rocks. It can reach a length of approximately 1.2 meters. After harvesting, the seaweed can be used in medicine and pharmaceutical preparations. To harvest the seaweed, fishermen must set off at dawn. They travel by motorboat or row in small boats for hours to reach the seaweed's location. After the tide recedes, they dive to pick it. For photographers, the Sargassum seaweed harvesting season on Hon Kho Island is a golden opportunity to capture stunning images of the beauty of the labor.
During the seaweed season, the waters around Hon Kho become teeming with various types of fish, squid, and shrimp, seeking refuge among the dense seaweed clusters. Therefore, the fishing activity is incredibly vibrant during this season, with fishermen often combining net casting and diving for squid. As a result, the seaweed season in Hon Kho provides locals with a significantly higher income compared to other months of the year.
June and July are the peak months for tourism in Binh Dinh, with major tourism festivals and events concentrated during this time. This is also the opportunity for visitors to see Hon Kho Island at its most beautiful. Boasting an incredibly diverse underwater ecosystem, dense coral reefs, and mystical seaweed forests, Hon Kho Island during harvest season looks like something out of a fairy tale.
Furthermore, snorkeling at Hon Kho is very affordable, and the cost of food and accommodation is also very reasonable. Therefore, it is always an ideal destination for tourists from both within and outside the province. If you have the opportunity to visit Binh Dinh in the summer, you should definitely not miss the chance to admire the clusters of seaweed at Hon Kho.
