"Going wild" is slang for the spontaneous outings of people into the streets to celebrate sporting victories, creating a frenzied, chaotic atmosphere, and sometimes even resulting in unfortunate consequences due to participants losing control.
In Thanh Hoa City in the past, whenever fans poured into the streets to celebrate the national team's victory, it was a very difficult time for the traffic police and public order forces. Many types of vehicles and various sound-making devices were mobilized by the people to create a celebratory atmosphere. They were willing to run red lights and stop their cars in the middle of intersections to dance. Intersections such as Le Loi Boulevard intersecting Tran Phu and Hac Thanh streets, or the intersections along Quang Trung and Ba Trieu streets, were often chaotic.
On the night of December 18, 2025, following the victory of the Vietnam U22 football team against Thailand U22 and winning the gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games, crowds poured into the streets. Vehicles, flags, and banners were still brightly displayed, and the sounds were still boisterous. However, the fundamental difference was that the security forces were not as overworked as on previous occasions. At the intersection of Le Loi Boulevard and Tran Phu Street, only a few traffic police officers were stationed on either side. Traffic lights functioned as usual, and people stopped neatly before the lane markings whenever the lights turned red. Fans were excited, but no one crossed the line to become a traffic violator.
Over the past few days, the media has featured many images of crowds in various cities stopping at traffic lights before the designated crosswalks while celebrating. These fresh images were created by a tool recently adopted by traffic police: CameraAI.
With its "integrity," after being put into operation, this AI-powered camera system worked "straightforwardly," detecting violations and automatically transmitting data to the processing center. These accurate and automated images helped prevent human intervention and correct errors in manual processes.
The images of people taking to the streets to celebrate the victory of the Vietnamese U22 football team can be seen as a test of the effectiveness of a new traffic management tool, contributing to the return of a greener traffic culture on busy roads.
