The Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) is not only a companion but also a "pillar" of support in terms of economics , spirit, willpower, and aspirations for women. Especially for poor women, the VBSP's capital is a solid "support" that empowers them economically, empowering them to be independent and confident, shifting from passive to active participation in implementing family economic development models, striving to improve their lives, and gradually escaping poverty sustainably...

Thanks to social welfare funding and participation in vocational training courses, many women in Thuy Lieu commune, Cam Khe district, have gained more knowledge and skills, creating jobs and stable incomes.
For the goal of sustainable poverty reduction
Ms. Ta Thi Tien, residing in Zone 2, Bang Gia Commune, Ha Hoa District, is one of the exemplary individuals who effectively accessed capital from the Social Policy Bank. In 2000, when she first started her family, lacking investment capital, her family was classified as a disadvantaged household in the commune. Since participating in the Women's Union, she gained access to the Party and State's policies for the poor and disadvantaged, especially after receiving 2.5 hectares of forest land leased from the State. This motivated her and her family to research, learn, and apply knowledge and experience to transform their production.
With an initial loan of 50 million VND from the Social Policy Bank, she boldly invested in breeding cattle and planting forests. To date, her family consistently maintains 3 breeding cows, 2-5 calves, plus 2.5 hectares of acacia forest, each harvesting cycle bringing in hundreds of millions of VND.
More than 10 years ago, the family of Ms. Hoang Thi Hop in Mo Son area, Son Tinh commune, Cam Khe district, was one of the poorest households in the commune. Being purely agricultural workers , when her two children were admitted to university, the family faced even greater difficulties due to the high cost of their children's education.
In 2014, she was admitted to the Savings and Loan Group in Mo Son area, Son Tinh commune, and was guided through the procedures for applying for preferential loans for students from the Social Policy Bank of Cam Khe district, totaling 82.5 million VND.
In 2020, thanks to preferential loans for students and income from livestock farming and crop cultivation, her family escaped poverty. They then received another 100 million VND loan from the Social Policy Bank for newly-escaped-poverty households and 20 million VND from the rural clean water and sanitation program to purchase two breeding cows, renovate a 4,000m² fish pond for raising fish for consumption and breeding, and construct a standard sanitation treatment facility.
To date, her family's model of raising breeding cows and fish fry and commercial fish has increasingly developed, yielding a profit of approximately 100 million VND per year.
The stories of Ms. Tien and Ms. Hop are not just the stories of one or two individuals, but also the stories of countless other people who have risen from hardship thanks to loans from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies.
Recognizing that social policy credit is one of the important resources for implementing the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction and the National Target Program for Building New Rural Areas, over the past 10 years, the Provincial Women's Union has issued 18 documents directing, instructing, urging, and reminding; promoting the dissemination of the Party and State's policies on social policy credit through regular meetings of branches and groups, the public address system, and social media platforms such as Zalo and Facebook... to ensure that all segments of the population, especially the poor and near-poor, understand them clearly. This has affirmed the role of social policy credit in achieving sustainable poverty reduction, job creation, ensuring social security, and building new rural areas in the locality.

The Tan Son District Social Policy Bank, in coordination with the local support and assistance groups, collects savings deposits from women, contributing to helping poor women and women in difficult circumstances rise up and achieve sustainable poverty reduction.
Partnering for the advancement of women.
The capital provided by the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies not only helps women invest in family economic development, but by becoming bank customers, women also have more opportunities to develop themselves, improve their skills, and learn how to use capital effectively; this capital also becomes one of the important "channels" that helps poor women proactively rise out of poverty and affirm their role and position in society.
Comrade Pham Thi Kim Loan - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Women's Union, stated: The Provincial Women's Union currently manages outstanding loans of over 1,708 billion VND for more than 31,500 households with outstanding loans in 1,003 Savings and Credit Groups throughout the province. Along with preferential loans for economic development and improving living standards, 100% of the Savings and Credit Groups managed by the Women's Union have savings balances, with 100% of members depositing savings compared to the number of loan recipients. The total amount of deposits mobilized from members is 64.8 billion VND.
Saving money through the Savings and Credit Groups managed by the Vietnam Women's Union not only mobilizes local resources but also creates a habit of saving in daily spending, helping poor women and women in difficult circumstances to develop economically and achieve sustainable poverty reduction.
To help women use loan capital effectively and for the right purposes, the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) and its branches at all levels have coordinated with relevant sectors to organize 147 training courses, workshops, and technology transfer programs on crop cultivation, livestock farming, product branding, and traditional craft preservation. They have also opened 270 vocational training classes for over 15,000 women, helping them gain more knowledge and skills, foster creativity, apply them to family economic development models, and boldly apply scientific and technological advancements to production, creating high-value crops and livestock, generating sustainable livelihoods, reducing poverty, and enhancing women's economic empowerment.
In particular, through entrusted activities with the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP), poor and near-poor women have convenient access to policy-based credit, contributing to preventing and limiting participation in "illegal lending," preserving state capital, and making a positive contribution to the Party's policy of economic growth coupled with social equity. From there, the role and prestige of the Women's Union are enhanced, strengthening the cohesion, gathering, and attracting women from all walks of life, especially poor women, to participate in the Union's activities.
