The Spanish leader added that any "just and lasting peace" would require the participation of Ukraine and Europe.
Trump said discussions with Russia were more effective than discussions with Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis told President Zelensky on the same day that no peace talks mechanism could resolve the conflict with Russia without Ukraine.
During a phone call with Mr. Zelensky, Mr. Mitsotakis said that it was up to the Kyiv authorities to decide whether or not to accept peace talks.
For his part, US President Donald Trump publicly criticized Zelensky's negotiating style on February 21, but emphasized that the Kyiv leader and Russian President Vladimir Putin must meet if they want things to be resolved satisfactorily.
