The group "Em Xinh" (Beautiful Girl) is preparing to hold its second concert in Hanoi. However, the "Em Xinh" concert once again proves that the appeal of female artists is difficult to match that of their male counterparts. 30 female artists of various ages and musical styles were not enough to attract the audience as much as their male counterparts. This resulted in significantly slower ticket sales for the second concert compared to the "Anh Trai" (Brotherly Girl) concerts.
Are pretty girls less attractive?
Amidst the boom in Vietnamese entertainment with its music reality shows, the two shows "Anh trai “say hi” (Brother “Say Hi”) and "Em xinh “say hi” (Beautiful Girl “Say Hi”) have become phenomena, not only creating viral hits but also triggering a series of spectacular concerts. However, as the "Em xinh “say hi” concert is about to take place at My Dinh Stadium ( Hanoi ) on October 11th, ticket sales are significantly slower compared to "Anh trai “say hi”.
As of the afternoon of October 9th, two days before the event, eight ticket categories remained unsold. Tickets to see "Em xinh say hi" in Hanoi ranged in price from 800,000 VND to 10 million VND. Some of the lowest-priced categories, such as GA A and GA B (800,000 VND) and CAT 3A and CAT 3B (900,000 VND), were still available.

At the first concert held on September 13th at Van Phuc Urban Area, Ho Chi Minh City, a similar situation occurred. Still priced from 800,000 VND to 10 million VND, "Em xinh “say hi” sold tickets relatively slowly, with only a few items sold out on the first day.
Conversely, the first concerts of "Brother Say Hi" sold out within hours of tickets going on sale. Even with slower ticket sales compared to the early days, "Brother Say Hi" easily sold tens of thousands of tickets in all sections of their final concerts.
In the first few nights, early-bird tickets were fiercely sought after, even on the secondary market, with prices doubling or more, attracting tens of thousands of attendees each night. The two concerts alone, held on December 7th and 9th, 2024 in Hanoi, attracted 90,000 attendees (according to ticket sales figures).
This huge disparity likely stems from marketing and timing. "Brother Say Hi" launched earlier, built a loyal fandom through season 1, and season 2 has already aired several episodes, generating significant buzz. Meanwhile, "You Beautiful Say Hi"—despite being released only a few months later—faced a distraction, as audiences were already "addicted" to and had spent considerable money on "Brother Say Hi"'s previous concerts. But more fundamentally, this is a story about gender bias in the Vietnamese entertainment industry. This is understandable, given that the number of loyal fans willing to spend money on singers and idols is often female.
The slow ticket sales situation is happening not only at "Em Xinh" but also at "Chi Dep Dap Gio". "Chi Dep Dap Gio" only had one concert on April 12th. Featuring a large number of artists from both seasons with diverse price points, divided into 26 sections ranging from 800,000 VND to 8 million VND, the "Chi Dep Dap Gio" concert still sold tickets much slower than "Anh Trai Vuot Ngan Chong Gai".
Three days after tickets went on sale, some categories of the concert tickets were sold out, such as "Gió Em" (priced at 2 million VND), "Chuyển Mình Rực Rỡ 1 & 2," and "Màn Đêm Rực Sáng 1 & 2" (priced at 800,000 VND). The remaining ticket categories, including the lowest-priced ones like "Ngôi Sao" (800,000 VND) and "Thiên Hà" (1.2 million VND), were still available. Then, the remaining ticket categories gradually sold out until the concert day. While not completely unpopular, the ticket sales for the female artists were noticeably slower compared to the male artists.
The commotion before the concert.
Besides the issue of slow ticket sales, the "Em xinh" (Beautiful Girl) concert in Hanoi, scheduled to take place close to its date, is also embroiled in controversy related to Miu Le. The second night of the concert hasn't even taken place yet, and the "Em xinh" journey isn't entirely over, but Miu Le has already made moves that are seen as an attempt to erase her mark on the show.
Specifically, in a group chat with fans, the singer wrote: "I like everyone calling me Miu Le, without any prefaces. The journey as a pretty girl is over, I'm going back to being Miu Le. Miu Le or Miu."
Miu Le's actions have left some viewers, especially those who loved her performance in "Em xinh say hi," feeling regret and disappointment. They believe Miu Le could have waited until her second concert to speak out.

Later, Miu Le retracted the controversial messages. The singer further explained: "Over the years in this profession, there are people who love me, people who hate me, people who have been with me since I first started, and people who have recently come to love me. My view is that in my future journeys, I want to have everyone by my side, not just for a particular product or program that is temporary."
In addition, there was controversy surrounding ticket price reductions. The production team and sponsors offered discount codes, even livestreaming to give them away to the audience. As a result, many viewers were able to buy tickets at a discount of up to 65%, meaning a ticket that originally cost 800,000 VND was reduced to 280,000 VND after applying various discount codes. This situation angered some viewers who had purchased tickets at the original price, feeling it was unfair.
