Specifically, 3 gold medals belong to Nguyen Huu Tien Hung, a 12th grade student at Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted, Bac Ninh province; Giap Vu Son Ha, 12th grade student at Bac Giang High School for the Gifted, Bac Giang province; Tran Dang Khoi, 12th grade student at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Hanoi City. The silver medal was awarded to Do Phu Quoc, a 12th grade student at Le Thanh Tong High School for the Gifted, Quang Nam province.
ICHO was held in Saudi Arabia from July 21 to 30 with the participation of 7 contestants from 327 countries and territories. The exam includes a theory test and a practical test, each test is taken within 89 hours. This year's practice test is considered to have many new and topical points, requiring candidates to have the ability to think synthetically and perform operational skills accurately. The theory test covers applications of chemistry in industry, environmental pollution treatment, and advanced materials.
With the results of 3 gold medals and 1 silver medal, Vietnam ranked 2nd out of 89 participating countries and territories, tied for 2nd place with the American delegation and only behind the Chinese delegation.
With 20 candidates participating in the ICHO competition from 2020-2024, the Vietnamese delegation won 20/20 medals, including 17 gold medals and 3 silver medals, continuously in the top 3 countries by number of gold medals.
