After running his carpentry workshop for over 10 years, recognizing the growing demand for wood carving, Mr. Le Van Quy opened an additional wood carving workshop in early 2023, covering an area of approximately 60 square meters. He invested nearly 400 million VND in purchasing CNC machines, grinding machines, dust collectors, and other equipment.
After opening his workshop, and while crafting decorative elements for altars, tables, and chairs, Mr. Quy began researching and creating 3D wooden paintings. His workshop's wooden paintings are primarily made from garden wood such as jackfruit and mahogany.
According to him, to make good paintings, one must choose good wood that is durable, does not crack, warps minimally, and is not infested with termites. During the dry season, he buys wood from gardens in Nong Son and Phuoc Son districts to stockpile.
Each wooden painting costs from 2.2 million VND upwards, depending on the type of wood and size. On average, Mr. Quy's 3D wooden painting workshop generates a monthly revenue of 90-120 million VND.
Currently, his business provides employment for 4-5 workers with a stable income of 350-400 thousand VND per person per day. In addition, his carpentry workshop is also operating steadily, generating a profit of approximately 20 million VND per month.
In 2023, Mr. Quy's facility received 120 million VND from the Nong Son district government's industrial promotion program to purchase a CNC machine.
According to Mr. Quy, since applying advanced machinery and equipment to woodworking production, the facility has been able to process highly complex parts, small parts with high precision, stable product quality, increased competitiveness, and reduced production costs.
To promote his products, expand his market reach, and connect with others, Mr. Quy created a website for his business and also introduced his products on social media platforms like Facebook, Zalo, and TikTok. Gradually, his wooden paintings became known and appreciated by customers, leading to more referrals and orders.
"Always aware that only reputation endures over time, we strive to build and protect trust in the hearts of each customer," said Mr. Quy.
According to Mr. Phan Thanh Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Que Lam commune, in 2024, the 3D wooden paintings produced by Le Van Quy's business were recognized by the People's Committee of Nong Son district as achieving OCOP 3-star standard.
"Not only has Mr. Quy's workshop helped develop carpentry and handicrafts, creating jobs for a segment of young people, but it has also contributed to helping the locality complete the 19 criteria, enabling Que Lam to achieve the status of a new rural commune this year," Mr. Thanh said.
