Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long has just signed a decision to change the name of the People's Public Security University of Engineering and Logistics to the Academy of Security Engineering and Technology .

The Government assigned the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Public Security , the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province and relevant agencies, according to their functions, tasks and authority, to guide and supervise the renaming process to ensure transparency and prevent negativity, loss and waste of finance and assets.

The name change does not affect the normal operations of the school, while ensuring the legitimate rights of students, lecturers, staff, employees and related organizations and individuals.

The Academy of Security Engineering and Technology is headquartered in Bac Ninh. The school is responsible for training high-quality human resources in the fields of technical expertise, science and technology, and public security logistics.

Currently, the school specializes in training in engineering and technology including the following majors: Information Technology, Electronics - Telecommunications Engineering, People's Police Engineering, Technical Investigation, People's Police Logistics, etc.

Recently, the school was also approved by the Ministry of Public Security to implement the project to establish a Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy under the school, in coordination with the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi to train and foster medical human resources for the people's police force.

The People's Public Security University of Technology and Logistics was formed and developed through three main stages. In 1984, the Ministry of the Interior (now the Ministry of Public Security) reorganized the system of public security secondary schools, forming the Communications Secondary School and the Vocational Technical Secondary School III (later the People's Security Secondary School III).

In 1993, the two schools merged into the People's Public Security Technical High School, later renamed the People's Public Security Technical High School.

On October 21, 2010, on the basis of upgrading the People's Public Security Technical College, the Ministry of Public Security established the People's Public Security University of Technology and Logistics. After 15 years, the school's new name is the Academy of Security Technology and Engineering.

The benchmark scores of public security schools and academies in 2025 range from 15.95 to 26.28, with the highest and lowest scores both at the People's Police University.
