Catch the semiconductor chip migration

The flow of semiconductor manufacturing industry is tending to flow to Vietnam. Therefore, the semiconductor industry has been chosen by Da Nang as one of the five key economic sectors that will develop dramatically in the coming time.

With a small area and low population, Da Nang does not choose the same approach as Ho Chi Minh City, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang , which is to attract foreign investors to set up semiconductor factories. Emphasizing the attraction of Da Nang now is the favorable legal framework, according to Mr. Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee, the city currently has many mechanisms and policies as a foundation. Identifying the 5 industries selected as spearhead economies, the information technology industry, specifically the semiconductor microchip industry, will be chosen by the locality as a breakthrough development field in the coming time.

This is the driving force for Da Nang to continue to develop and strongly promote resources, especially human resources, in the spirit of harmonious, reasonable and effective combination between internal and external resources. These resources are not only new opportunities but also great determination of the entire political system, business community and training institutions to make changes in the fields in which Da Nang has certain advantages.

With an area of 1,128.40 hectares, Da Nang High-Tech Park is one of three national high-tech parks, with complete technical infrastructure. The city has an abundant and highly skilled labor force; the investment and business environment is constantly improving.

During a working trip to the United States in November 2023, the Da Nang City delegation led by Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang reached a series of agreements with the world's leading technology corporations. Such as to support Da Nang businesses to participate in the ITSJ-G supply chain; Marvell will survey to open an office in Da Nang in January 2024; cooperate in training Da Nang human resources in combination with Intel Corporation's Artificial Intelligence program... The Da Nang City People's Committee and Synopsys signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation related to the development of the semiconductor sector in Da Nang, witnessed by President Vo Van Thuong.

Da Nang has about 250 enterprises operating in the field of manufacturing, processing, and assembling electronic components with nearly 10,500 employees. Companies operating in microchip design such as: Synopsys, Savarti, Fptsemi, ... with about 550 engineers from Da Nang University of Technology (accounting for 80%), Vietnam - Korea University of Information Technology, ...
