At Regiment 6, Hue City Military Command, the barracks have taken on a new look in the early days of the new year. Along the roads and in the unit's grounds, firecracker flowers, chrysanthemums, peonies, marigolds, sunflowers... are all blooming in vibrant colors. Sergeant Tran Van Ron, Squad Leader, Company 1, Battalion 1, carefully transplanted flowering plants from the approximately 50m² nursery behind the barracks to plant them in front of the living quarters, while sharing: “Everyone hopes that new recruits will have a good first impression upon arriving at the unit. A clean, beautiful, and green barracks will help them feel at ease and quickly integrate into the military environment.”
Beyond simply beautifying the landscape, the renovation of barracks at military units is closely linked to building a standardized and disciplined lifestyle. At Brigade 414 (Military Region 4), along with cleaning and repairing the barracks, a system of banners, posters, and slogans is prominently displayed along the main roads and common areas.

Cultural facilities such as reading rooms, traditional houses, activity rooms, sports fields, and swimming pools have been strengthened to ensure they adequately serve the spiritual life and physical training of the soldiers. The brigade also proactively promotes agricultural production. Vegetable gardens, fish ponds, and livestock pens are neatly planned and meticulously cared for, ensuring a stable supply of clean food for new recruits and contributing to building a green, clean, and beautiful environment.
Colonel Tran Thanh Binh, Political Commissar of Brigade 414, affirmed: "Renovating the barracks is not only about making them more beautiful, but also carries profound educational significance. Every row of trees, flowerbed, and slogan contributes to creating a positive first impression, helping new recruits feel that the unit is their common home, where they can train and grow."

| The 841st Regiment, under the Military Command of Ha Tinh province, is conducting training for new recruits. |
Along with preparing the infrastructure, the units placed special emphasis on the human factor, especially the officers directly involved in training new recruits. At Regiment 1 (324th Division), at the time we were there, the unit was conducting training for the new recruit training framework. On the training ground, the atmosphere of the training session was serious and urgent, clearly evident in each content and each demonstration movement.
In addition to the prescribed military training, this year the Regiment focused on training its officers in educational methods and skills for understanding and managing the thoughts of new recruits. Through this training, each officer gained additional experience in handling situations, clearly defining their responsibilities in managing and educating troops; avoiding hasty and authoritarian approaches, and ensuring that training is accurate, effective, and efficient from the very beginning.
Previously, the Regiment had closely coordinated with local authorities in the recruitment and selection of new recruits; choosing officers with strong character, experience, and high responsibility to build the training framework for new soldiers. Preparation of training grounds, practice areas, models, and training aids was carried out synchronously and realistically for training.
In a conversation with us, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huy Du, Political Commissar of Regiment 1, emphasized: "Training new recruits is not only about physical fitness, technical skills, tactics, and discipline, but more importantly, it's about helping soldiers feel secure mentally and correctly identify their motivations and responsibilities. Therefore, equipping cadre officers with methods for educating and managing soldiers from the outset is a crucial factor in effectively educating and managing new recruits."

At Regiment 841 (Military Command of Ha Tinh Province), the renovation of barracks was also implemented early and comprehensively. The living quarters for new recruits were cleaned, repainted, and arranged scientifically; the electrical, water, lighting, and fan systems were thoroughly checked. Beds, blankets, personal hygiene items, and catering supplies were provided in full and according to standards. The bathrooms, toilets, and laundry areas were upgraded, ensuring cleanliness and convenience for communal living.
Major Nguyen Quoc Toan, Deputy Regiment Commander and Chief of Staff, said: “New recruits entering the army are still quite unfamiliar with many things. Therefore, the unit has made thorough preparations, down to the smallest details in their daily lives, so that they can see the care from all levels and quickly integrate into the military environment.”
In practice, at various units, along with preparing facilities and personnel, the planning for receiving and training new recruits has been implemented systematically and scientifically. From the recruitment plan, personnel arrangement, traditional education, and training commencement to cultural, artistic, and sports activities, and exchanges, everything has been meticulously prepared, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm and cohesion from the very first days.
