The seminar, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association, was held as part of the Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Days.

Attending the seminar were Mr. Le Van Minh, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Quyen, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; and leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association, as well as writers and poets from many generations.

Young writers are not afraid of AI.

As one of the young writers selected to participate in the panel discussion, writer Nguyen Dinh Khoa attracted attention when his work "Variant" (winner of the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association's Young Author Award in 2024) was linked to AI.

In the context of the current trend of developing AI technology, Nguyen Dinh Khoa shared his thoughts on the opinion that writers and journalists may become unemployed due to being replaced by AI.

"On social media, people have been talking a lot about AI technology and how it can help people write better. I've heard about it, but I'm not too worried or concerned."

I don't think AI can replace writers. AI technology writes in a very systematic and structured way… However, I find that human writing is still more emotional.

"I live in that environment, so I can absorb and understand the inner workings of it, and from that, I develop my own thoughts and writing style," Nguyen Dinh Khoa expressed.

He believes that because AI has developed so much, it's now easy for readers to spot sections that use AI. He argues that readers always respect genuine writers, and therefore appreciate the effort a writer puts into creating a work.

Ho Chi Minh City, a hub for writers who are dedicated to their craft.

During the discussion, the writers all acknowledged that Ho Chi Minh City is the most dynamic and open city in the country, making it a favorable environment for talents in many fields to develop their abilities, including literature.

This city is also a compassionate and welcoming place, embracing all kinds of people and styles, which has attracted many literary talents to live and develop their writing skills here.

From this very place, the young poet Tran Duc Tin received guidance and mentorship from his predecessors, helping him overcome the uncertainties of his early days as a writer.

Today, he considers himself to be nearing the age of youth, and the city is welcoming a new generation of young people. They are proactive, have access to new things in the world , and possess foreign language skills to directly read contemporary texts, so they learn and integrate quickly.

Writer Phuong Huyen reported that at the Young Writers' Conference, there were writers as young as 16 or 17 who had already been able to "make a name for themselves".

For example, writer Cao Viet Quynh (born in 2008) won the National Book Award in 2022, and Tran Phu Minh Anh (born in 2007) won the A prize of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations in 2023.

Regarding Cao Viet Quynh, writer Vo Thu Huong expressed her admiration for his passion for writing and for publishing several series of stories consecutively while still in school.

Not only are there young talents, but there are also great writers like Mr. Tran Duc Tien, who at the age of 70 continues to write children's stories, and according to Vo Thu Huong, each new book is better than the last. "I greatly admire his creativity and serious work ethic," said Vo Thu Huong.

It is these successive waves that create a powerful literary flow in Ho Chi Minh City. It's a highly motivating environment where every writer strives to produce works with their own unique style, ensuring they don't fall behind the times.
