Y Tý is a mountainous border commune in Lao Cai province, established by merging the former Y Tý and A Lù communes. It has a border stretching over 23km, bordering China, and holds a particularly important position in terms of national defense, security, and territorial sovereignty . The majority of its population consists of ethnic minorities.

Y Tý has many potentials and advantages for development, especially in ecotourism and community-based tourism associated with the cultural identity of ethnic groups...

However, despite its advantages, this area still faces many difficulties: complex terrain, limited transportation; a high poverty rate, and a significant portion of the population still living in poverty; and significant obstacles to accessing healthcare, education, and information services. Therefore, the attention and support of agencies, organizations, and individuals inside and outside the province are extremely important for the development of Y Tý commune.

Evaluating the program, Colonel Tran Quang Tung, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of the Border Guard Command of Lao Cai province, emphasized: In recent years, the Party and State have implemented many policies to invest in economic development programs and projects to alleviate poverty for people in border areas; the joint efforts, contributions, and material and spiritual support of companies, businesses, and philanthropists have been directed towards the people of ethnic minorities in remote and border regions.

The leaders of the Y Tý commune Party Committee reported on the situation.

With the attention of the Party and the State, over the years, officers and soldiers of the Border Guard of Lao Cai province have closely coordinated with all levels, sectors, Party committees, and local authorities to implement many programs, models, and projects to help people develop the economy, culture, and society, eradicate hunger and poverty, and participate in building new rural areas. This has contributed to gradually improving the material and spiritual lives of the people in the border region.

Today's program is a deeply meaningful humanitarian activity, demonstrating a spirit of responsibility, affection, love, and solidarity, sharing the difficulties with the people in the border areas of our country. It reflects the heartfelt generosity of the medical staff, doctors, and philanthropists who, despite the long distances and difficult transportation, came to the people of Y Tý commune and to the officers and soldiers of the Y Tý Border Guard Post.

The activities in today's program by companies, businesses, organizations, and philanthropists such as: Hanoi Compassion Group; Lotus Heart Foundation; Summer Sunshine Doctor Team; Dien Chau Hometown Association, Nghe An province; Horizon Vietnam Company; Next-G Foundation; APEC Entrepreneurship Research and Training Academy… are vivid proof of the spirit of "mutual support and compassion," strengthening the solidarity between the military and the people, and further motivating the people and officers and soldiers of the Border Guard to firmly hold their weapons, protect the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national border security of the Fatherland.

On April 19th, charitable gifts were delivered directly to the Border Guard Post and ethnic minority people in Y Tý commune. At the same time, approximately 800 medical check-ups and screenings for serious illnesses were conducted by doctors. In front of the commune's multi-purpose hall, Mr. Phà Xá and Ms. Ly Xe Bớ from Sín Chải village, Y Tý commune, excitedly carried boxes of instant noodles, fish sauce, and teddy bears, proudly showing off that her husband had received a comprehensive medical check-up that morning, while she waited for her turn in the afternoon.

The couple, both 29 years old and with four children, said: "Hearing the announcement early this morning, we left our village and our children to go to the commune center to receive gifts and get medical checkups. We've never felt so happy in our lives..."

Comrade Cao Van Van, Permanent Deputy Secretary of Y Ty commune, stated: "Today's 'Accompanying the Military and People of Y Ty' program is an activity with profound political, social, and humanitarian significance; vividly demonstrating the spirit of 'mutual support and compassion,' and contributing to consolidating and strengthening the close-knit relationship between the military and the people in the border region."

The Party Committee and the local government of Y Tý commune are committed to managing and utilizing the program's support resources effectively and appropriately; continuing to closely coordinate with the Border Guard forces and relevant organizations, leveraging internal resources, uniting the people, striving to overcome difficulties, and gradually building Y Tý commune into an increasingly developed area, improving the lives of its people, and contributing to maintaining national border security and sovereignty.
