At BIDV bank, the buying and selling rates for the Japanese Yen reached 155.86 VND/JPY and 164.34 VND/JPY, respectively.

At Agribank, the Japanese Yen exchange rate for buying and selling is 156.94 VND/JPY and 164.43 VND/JPY respectively.

At Eximbank, the buying and selling rates are 158.12 VND/JPY and 163.68 VND/JPY, respectively.

At Sacombank, the buying and selling rates for the Japanese Yen are 157.63 VND/JPY and 164.66 VND/JPY, respectively.

At Techcombank, the buying and selling rates for the Japanese Yen are 153.96 VND/JPY and 166.35 VND/JPY, respectively.

According to a survey by the Industry and Trade Newspaper, today's Japanese Yen exchange rate at Exim Bank is the highest buying rate for the Japanese Yen , while HSBC has the lowest selling rate among all banks .

Today, January 13, 2025, a survey of the black market shows the Japanese Yen/VND exchange rate trading at 163 VND/JPY for buying and 164 VND/JPY for selling.

Forecast of Yen exchange rate trends

New data showing strong wage growth in Japan, coupled with rising inflationary pressures, increases the likelihood that the Bank of Japan (BoJ) will further tighten its monetary policy.

Furthermore, the widening interest rate gap between the US and Japan, due to the Federal Reserve's hawkish stance, has also limited the strength of the low-yielding Yen. Nevertheless, rumors of potential government intervention to support the Yen have made investors hesitant to bet on its weakening.

In particular, concerns about the geopolitical situation, the protectionist policies of US President-elect Donald Trump, and market caution continue to support the Yen, which is considered a safe-haven asset.

Newly released data shows that Japan's base wage rose 2.7% in November, the highest level since 1992, and overtime pay also increased 1.6% compared to the previous month. However, real wages (after adjusting for inflation) fell 0.3% for the fourth consecutive month, due to inflation rising to 3.4% year-on-year.

The Bank of Japan (BoJ) has repeatedly emphasized that stable and widespread wage growth is a prerequisite for raising interest rates. This new data supports the possibility of a future BoJ rate hike, but the market does not expect this to happen at the January meeting. The BoJ may wait until March, especially given the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Donald Trump's protectionist policies.
