This March, Soc Trang province is holding its first ever Pink Trumpet Flower Week, where pink trumpet flowers bloom profusely along urban roads. Originally from the Americas, pink trumpet flowers have become widely planted in Soc Trang in recent years. They bloom during the dry season, usually from February to April, creating a picturesque landscape that attracts many visitors.
Soc Trang hopes the event will promote the image of this flower, while also introducing local tourism products and souvenirs, contributing to enhancing the tourism value of the province.
From the streets lined with pink trumpet flowers, visitors will be introduced to Khmer culture through traditional Rom Vong dance performances and guided tours of making flattened rice cakes. This event not only promotes the beauty of the city but also provides an opportunity for visitors to enjoy the unique local cuisine and culture.
Is it possible to attract tourists using only one type of flower? The methods used in many localities suggest that this is entirely possible, even highly feasible.
In the age of social media, beautiful flower gardens have become ideal check-in locations. Photos taken amidst vibrant fields of flowers not only create beautiful memories but also help spread the image of local tourism, attracting more visitors.
From young people who love photography and families looking for a relaxing space to older adults who love nature, everyone can find joy in visiting these lands ablaze with colorful flowers.
Just looking at images of vibrant flower fields or flower-covered roads: Da Lat with cherry blossoms, hydrangeas, and wild sunflowers; Moc Chau with plum blossoms and white mustard flowers; Sa Dec City (Dong Thap) with Tan Quy Dong flower village blooming year-round… anyone would long to visit and immerse themselves in it.
From festivals like the Da Lat Flower Festival, the Ban Flower Festival in Dien Bien, and the upcoming Pink Trumpet Flower Festival in Soc Trang, these events not only attract tourists but also create opportunities for cultural experiences and the promotion of local cuisine. When properly exploited, flower tourism can enhance the city's brand image and generate significant added value for the local economy.
