On its journey to becoming "The City of Festivals Returning to the Roots of the Vietnamese Nation," Viet Tri City has been and continues to be a highlight, attracting numerous tourists from all over when they visit the ancestral land during the spring season. Especially during the period from the beginning of January to March of the lunar calendar each year, when the young shoots and green leaves are shyly emerging in the spring weather, this is also the time when the city enters its festival season, bearing the distinctive cultural imprint of the Hung King era, making it an unmissable experience for visitors.

Known as the "city at the confluence of three rivers," where the Red River, the Da River, and the Lo River meet, Viet Tri serves as the "gateway" to the ancestral land in general and Viet Tri city in particular. Viet Tri is not only a political and economic center, embodying the form and appearance of a modern, comprehensively developing city, but also holds many cultural values, with two intangible cultural heritage sites recognized by UNESCO: the Hung King worshiping belief and Xoan singing.

The first destination on the spring travel itinerary for the people is the Hung Temple Historical Site, a place where the sacred spirit of the mountains and rivers converges. On the sacred Nghia Linh mountain peak, visitors light incense sticks, bow their heads in gratitude for the merits of the Hung Kings, and pray for blessings and peace for their families and loved ones.

Ms. Nguyen Lan Phuong from Hanoi shared: “For many years now, it has become a tradition for my family to always visit the Hung Kings' Historical Relic Site during the first spring trip of the year. My family climbs all the temples together, lights incense to remember and express our gratitude to the Hung Kings, and prays for blessings, prosperity, and peace. Coming here, each member of the family feels more relaxed and at ease. I want my children not only to understand our origins and history but also to appreciate and continue the beautiful traditional cultural values of our nation.”

Tourists immerse themselves in the Xoan folk songs at the ancient Hung Lo communal house.

Following the Lo River downstream, we arrive at Hung Lo commune – a place that preserves unique cultural values with its rural market atmosphere, ancient houses hundreds of years old that breathe the spirit of the old Northern Vietnamese countryside, and the melodious and heartfelt Xoan folk songs echoing under the roof of the ancient Hung Lo communal house.

Like many other community-based cultural tourism destinations, Hung Lo ancient village is bustling with visitors at this time of year. Each week, Hung Lo receives two to three groups of domestic and international tourists. Visitors not only get to explore the ancient Hung Lo communal house complex and listen to historical anecdotes about the ancient land, but also enjoy and participate in performances with traditional Xoan folk singers and performers, sip on spring wine with good wishes for peace and happiness; experience wrapping and enjoying banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), learn about the process of making the village's famous specialty – Hung Lo rice noodles, and shop at the local market... All of this creates a vibrant and lively atmosphere of spring and adds to the enjoyable experiences for visitors.

On their spring excursion, visitors can also visit the spiritual and cultural complex of Tam Giang Temple and Dai Bi Pagoda (Bach Hac Ward), peacefully situated beside the river surrounded by refreshing breezes, and experience the sacred water procession at the confluence of three rivers. In addition, visitors shouldn't miss the lush, cool, and fresh green space of Van Lang Park, located right in the heart of the city, with its vibrant spring flowers, the bustling streets, and the dazzling, sparkling lights of the festival city when the lights come on.

Quynh's family took photos to preserve memories at Van Lang Park.

This is the first year that Mr. Lo Khac Quynh's family, originally from Dien Bien, has had the opportunity to enjoy a spring outing and visit the prominent and attractive destinations of Viet Tri city. Mr. Quynh shared: "My wife, two children, and I are all very impressed with the beauty of the city, especially the space at Van Lang Park. We will also try to visit more places to learn more and discover more of the unique culture of the ancestral land."

Spiritual destinations and clean, beautiful green spaces have become popular choices for many tourists visiting the area. Hopefully, on the tourism map of the country in general and Phu Tho province in particular, Viet Tri city will always be one of the ideal destinations, leaving a beautiful impression on both domestic and international tourists.
